Asus Rog STRIX G513 charging issues.

My 3 years old Asus ROG STRIX G515 is having somo pure hardware issues. It randomly gets disconnected from the charger normally after a slight movement. I dont have another compatible charger to diagnose if the problem is from my computer or from the charger itself. It's quite limiting for me because I can't use it for gaming purposes becuse of the software it has that change the screen settings each time it disconects turning it off for about a second.

The charger's AC adapter model is ADP-200JB D

Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english.

Sorry I forgot to ask the question besides the context. If it's not related to the charger itself, does it have an easy solution? Should I take it to a tecnic repair or could I do it myself? What should I do now?

Thanks

Hello,

There are a few possibilities, the actual laptop charging DC socket being loose inside due to a break in the solder joints or its just worn out. This one will require a person with the right skills to check and if replacement is required it's an easy fix but soldering / desoldering will be required.

The actual power cable, is it ok as sometimes depending on how it was kept and used the wire can get knotted causing a break within the cable. This part of the plug which goes into the laptop can also degrade over time, get loose or due to heat melt internally. You would need a new power supply to test if this is the problem.

If you have it charging and all it takes is a small touch to disconnect the power then it is likely the laptop DC socket in which case take it to a repair shop or someone that can do the work.

Thank you very much, I'll take it to a repair shop as soon as I get to my hometown. I hope this won't take much time as I'm leaving the country soon.
