Hi everyone
I have recently purchased an ASUS Rog Strix G16 G614JVR-N4080. It comes with a 1TB SSD. Since I want to use it for music production I need a lot more storage space for sample libraries, and I have several questions.
The first question is, can I put a 4TB SSD into the second slot, or not? I called a laptop service company in my country and they said 2TB is the limit per slot.
My second question is, IF 2TB is the limit per slot, can I swap out the 1TB SSD the laptop comes with for a 2TB one, and add an extra 2TB SSD on the second slot?
My third question is, IF I buy an SSD with a heatsink, be it 2TB or 4TB, will it fit inside the laptop?
And my fourth question is, how can I check what model is the 1TB stock SSD the laptop came equipped with? I think it's made by Western Digital but I'm not sure.
Thank you for any help.

Max storage capacity must be 4 TB not 2 i am 99% sure also for this question ask somewhere else if you wont
Second you can swap and set whatever SSD you wont if the capacity is 4TB (that i am sure at 99%) you can set 2x4TB
For the SSD whit the heatsink i dont think that's metter a lot but yes is the sink is original and the size is normal it will fit perfectly
You can check it whit different program Aida64 , HWINFO64 (free),CPUZ i think or in the device manager or properties on C disk

Thank you for your answer. I will check out the software you recommended for finding out the stock SSD model.
Can anyone else confirm that the laptop supports 4TB SSD's and also if the WD Black SN850X with a heatsink fits? In the sense that, will I be able to close the lid on the laptop because of the thickness of the heatsink?
EDIT:
I found this page: https://rog.asus.com/laptops/rog-strix/rog-strix-g16-2024/
Even on this page it says "up to 2TB PCIe 4.0 storage". So what's the truth?

For the SSD up to 2 TB on slot the Asus official site must be correct and i am in mistake than 😄

Now that I think anout it, the "up to 2TB" can also be interpreted that the Rog Strix G16 has multiple versions, with the most high-end version having a 2TB stock SSD. The thing that makes me believe this is that it also says "up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 GPU" . I could be wrong though.
Can anyone post a definitive answer?
