Hello all, I hope you all are ok. I have a problem with my ASUS GL552VW that I don't know how to fix. I have replaced its old mainboard (GL552VW REV. 2.0) with a new one (GL552VW REV. 2.1).
The new mainboard requires a cable of 40 pines (the old one required 30 pines) to connect the screen to the mainboard, so I have also replaced the old cable of 30 pines to 30 pines with a new one of 30 pines to 40 pines.
After all this, the computer started up well, and it seemed everything was ok, so I connected to the internet and started installing all new windows and driver updates... (the laptop hadn't started since the Summer of 2023, due to the mainboard breaking around that date).
I realised some of the updates were related to bios, controllers and the Nvidia car and all of them were downloading and installing, but suddently one of the update installations required me to restart the computer to finalise its installation and....
I selected to restart now, the flash utility started up and just before finalising the first progress bar, the laptop was shut down.
All these steps were performed with the battery plugged in and also connected to the electrical power.
Now the laptop shows 3 LEDs on; the power input, the plane mode and the uppercase (all lighting in white and constant).
The battery charging led is flashing in green).
Initially, the LED of the power button-on key is off, but when I press it to start the computer, its LED stays in red forever and the laptop does not start up.
I have tried all the procedures I have found googling, and nothing works.
I have also checked to press and maintain the power key for 40 seconds, and only the fan seems to work, but I cannot see anything on the screen, it is permanent in black.
I cannot see the ASUS/ROG logo.
I cannot enter BIOS by pressing F2 during laptop initialisation.
I also tried to remove the CMOS battery and perform a court circuit joining positive and negative cables for 10 seconds to do a hard BIOS reset, and it didn't work it.
I'm totally desperate, I tried to fix this computer for my son and I can't explain how a software update has left it unusable.
Any help from you would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks in advance,
Fran.
