Asus ROG G18 sometimes freeze battery LED blinking

Asus ROG G18 (G814JI) randomly freezes. no matter during the game or on the desktop - completely freezes and the battery indicator starts blinking orange. for a long time the laptop can work at maximum loads without problems, but sometimes it can freeze after a while after starting or when idle. since the purchase a year ago this has happened 3-5 times. all drivers are updated to the latest version and BIOS version 331. Nvidia is selected as the main video card

I found a solution in my case - some problem with RAM. I did some tests, replaced RAM with a new one from Kingston. Problem solved

the only problem is with the RAM. even the one that comes with the laptop. i decided to check how the laptop would work with different RAM boards and found that if you install one Samsung or A-data RAM board, bought for it earlier, even in different RAM slots, the laptop freezes faster and more often (from 1 minute to 5 minutes). so i decided to buy 2 more RAM boards of 16 GB, but from Kingston. the first thing i see is that the battery charge indicator has stopped randomly switching to orange (charging) too often and now constantly lights up white while the laptop is connected to the network. my laptop has not shown any failures for almost a week

I think i found solution: in advanced BIOS mode i set -40 cpu voltage offset mode and laptop has been working fine for almost a week

UPD: not work, laptop froze again

I have the G834JY 2023 model and after bios 331, I also had the same problem 3 times.  Screen remains black and can only force restart.

I initially had bios undervolt -80mV, I reduced this to -50mV but still had same issues so I eventually cancelled all undervolting amd leaving it at default.

After bios 331 any undervolt would leave the notebook prone to remain at a black screen and unable to resume a normal reboot after forced restart.  I even had to replace the DD5 memory with the stock factory memory to get the notebook to boot normally.

After disabling any undervolting the notebook has remained stable for about a month now.  Before bios 331 I could run undervolt -80mV with DDR 5600 64GB memory but after bios 331 I have to disable all undervolting to have the notebook stable.

no, it doesn't work for me... even if remove CPU voltage offset, the laptop still freezes =(

The latest 2 Nvidia drivers have black screen issues.  Also I have disabled sleep and power S0  states.  I run my notebook in automatic select so it will only switch to the Nvidia dGPU when gaming.

Try not using Nvidia as main video card.

unfortunately this is didn't work. for several days i used the intel gpu was set as the main card and auto switched to nvidia gpu only in games, but today the laptop froze again during the game and the battery LED indicator was blinking again

Experiencing random freezes and a blinking orange battery LED on your ASUS ROG G18 can be frustrating. This issue may stem from power delivery problems or battery calibration. To address it, ensure you're using the original charger, perform a hard reset, and consider recalibrating the battery. I don't like how my screen colors look when i using an intel GPU priority. So I'm using this tutorial for now. And i switch off intel GPU in the device manager

The laptop is working fine at the moment, but I've only been using it for half a day.

UPD: ok, problem probably with MUX switch, and my solution doesn't work too...

Holy sht, #ASUS, what wrong with your laptops! Anychance to fix that problem

Hello,

Is the light Red or Orange? Maybe there is a power issue, supply or battery and its failing randomly.

Got any temperature readings as it would be good to know if everything else is ok.

https://www.cpuid.com/downloads/hwmonitor/hwmonitor_1.56.zip

Hardware monitor will show more sensor readings (GPU and hopefully VR (power) temps).

If a power issue you need to reduce the power draw, best option is to disable some cores, in the BIOS switch off all the E-cores and see what happens. (these are not used for gaming)

The LED is blinking orange just like when charging the battery. I'll try your advice about the temperatures, thanks. I'll report the results later.

after 10 minutes of playing KCD2 I see abnormal in HWM  - PCH temperature 96°C! I save HWM log and create a link to google drive.
