Asus GL553VE - CPU/GPU Temperatures while gaming/Throttling

Hi Guys,

I purchased Asus GL553VE laptop about a month back..I just wanted to know your temperatures while gaming..While playing games such as Mafia 3, Mass Effect Andromeda, my CPU and GPU temperature both reaches around 82-85 degrees Celsius after 10 minutes of playing. My ambient temperature are close to 35 degrees celsius.

As its a new laptop, therefore i rule out the possibility of thermal paste, dust accumulation, heatsink problems, etc. Also, the airflow out of the heatsink also seems fine to me. I have tried lowering down my CPU processor state/frequency in power state to disable turbo boost, even then the CPU temperature reach around 82 degrees or so.

Could you guys help me in knowing what temperatures do you get while playing similar games and if its normal?

I have confirmed this with our NB team that this issue is a bug and BIOS v303 will address this issue but currently the BIOS update tool has some issue and once resolved should be available on the product page with this BIOS version.

will wait for the new BIOS then.. i hope they launch it really soon.. also we would appreciate if you could let us know the progress on motherboard thermal issue when manual fan boost is used.. thanks

Thank you for the update. Hopefully the BIOS 303 will address all our thermal issues. It's good to know that you guys are very supportive about this. This is my first ROG laptop and despite the issues about heat and throttling I'm still glad I chose this over other brands. Kudos to you and your team.

I'm following up on it, I know the BIOS version is already available internally and is going through testing. I will check to see when they will release this.

Okay guys while we waiting for new bios 303 update that hopefully will bring our gl553fe temperature down to below 70C ;);) i have some alternative solution for now. I knew u guys has undervolting your cpu. Have you tried undervolting your gpu? Its help me decrease the temperature to 75C for cpu and 73C for the gpu while playing gta V. My room temp is about 25C. I can achieve that still with turbo boost enabled. Maybe u guys can try this alternative way lol. Hope it helps

On the asus driver page there is a hotfix for gl553VE for bios. It is bios version 3.0.3.https://www.asus.com/Laptops/ROG-GL553VE/HelpDesk_Download/
But it does not work when i tray to open from the afuwin.exe. Has anyone try to udate bios to 3.0.3 for gl553VE ?

Also on Asus 553VD pages it's a similar hotfix (for BSoD acc to their info), but I dont know how to apply it, all executables are not doing something.

I'm checking with our team to see if they can provide simple instructions on how to properly run the hotfix update.

We think that having high fps is The Final Point. 30 is barely playable.
