I have recently started to have issues with my system experiencing instability in games. I have also read about the 13980hx being affected by the intel bug causing degradation over time. I just wanted to know if others were experiencing this or if it was just me.
I am on the latest bios, I dont overclock, and I have bios at default. I also have all recent drivers, including Nvidia drivers for the 4080.
*If* anyone else is experiencing this, have they had any help from support? Unfortunately, my laptop is just outside of warranty and it looks like they are going to expect me to foot the bill, despite the fact they almost certainly are refunded by intel for any diagnostics/work. Am I wrong to think if a product was rolled out with defects that it shouldnt fall on the consumer? Its also quite unfortunate that the issues began to show almost immediately after the warranty expired... Ive never had these types of issues with previous laptops so I never had to deal with a company like this.

Hi there Kez, so I have changed the settings on throttlestop, I've never used this app before. Do I have to turn it on manually everytime? there is a setting that has turn on/off, and when its on turn on it shows monitoring. am I good to go?

Should be turned on and saved so the profile will always be turned on when you start throttlestop. So just open it at startup and keep it minimized in tray and it will work.
Also, just remember to run some stress test, like cinebench or something for a while, or play some games to see if it's stable. Since even with the same cpu, it's not always going to be a 1:1 result and you may need to adjust numbers if unstable.

Thank you so much for the reply!
I am very new to this stuff, do you have a discord or something? I only started changing the setting in throttlestop today since we last had conversation because my Laptop was running fine, however today it restarted itself again with no BSOD or anything just a random restart while I was editing a video. So, then I decided I will try your settings from throttlestop and I havent tested it much yet but I feel like it will restart again for some reason. So, me having a someone with way better knowledge on this would mean a lot. If you have anything that I can contact you with, we could go over my laptop and my settings and such. please!

Did you ever get yours stable? I still havent been able to find a solution short of (and I am not 100% sure it fixes it) severely limiting my PL1 and PL2, which obviously comes with some heavy performance impact.

I would try TS, however, I cant even get the -80 UV in bios to be stable, so I doubt if TS would be any help. Only thing I can imagine would be helpful in TS is limiting my frequencies to reduce temps/power. Not sure if you have experience with UV not being stable from bios but being stable in TS, figured i just lost the silicon lottery... which would be fine, if the dang thing was stable with default settings.

Yes i have the same cpu and am having all kinds of issues ..crashing back to desktop or just shutting down all together when under load..if i check using hwinfo i can see all cores overvolted and huge thermal throttling and the vid reaching as high as 1.6 volts..Asus support has been beyond scummy and wont even aknowledge if my cpu is running within spec ? Intels microcode "fix" will not fix an already degraded cpu and some are now saying will only slowdown the degradation issue..Asus wont even aknowledge that laptop cpu are being affected just like the desktop cpu..Asus has become so dishonest with their Support ..actually there is no support ..they offer no avice ..wont answer questions ..they really need to be investigated

Honestly, its not just on Asus, Intel has tried to brush it under the rug pretty heavily. Last I have seen, they started out saying that the mobile processors were not affected by the V min shift, however were experiencing crashing and such but due to a different reason then proceeded to blame software/hardware issues (which i take as blaming the users). I also have heard or seen that they have since gone to saying that the mobile processors simply arent affected by the V min shift. My issue is, what were they originally (in all their extensive testing) finding to be the issue? they said they knew there were issues, but were certain it wasnt the V min shift, so what did they find was the issue if they were so certain? I mean, i can say beyond the shadow of a doubt it isnt software related, as ive multiple times reset my pc at this point. Hardware, Im pretty damned sure seeing as i havent found any hardware faults and have run numerous diagnostics trying really hard to find a clear issue but cant.
As far as Asus, they just want it to get out of warranty so they can charge more money. Why would i pay to fix a system that i dont trust wont have the exact same issues?
Mine ran great while it was running strong, but these last few months it has just gotten instable and more and more so by the day.

Well it looks like intel say yet again they have found the issue at least for desktop cpu (no mention of laptop cpu) and are releasing another microcode patch.
here is a link from level one tech discussing the issue:
