Adding RAM to G75

Hello I'm new to these forums so sorry if there is already a thread on this. I have a G75VW-BBK5 (bought from Bestbuy) It currently has 8 gigs of RAM and I am planning on adding more to get 16 gigs of RAM, I Don't know too much about the speeds and brands of RAM and was wondering what would you recommend me buying, sorry if this question sounds dumb but I just don't know much on what exactly I'm supposed to be looking for. Hey all I have the g75vw from Best Buy that came with 2x4gb of the Hynix. I found 2 spare exact match Hynix from a broken asus I have and when I put them in I got black screen and keyboard didn't light up when I powered unit on. I can hear noises from laptop on power up but nothing else. It works fine when I take ram back out. Is this a bad ram issue or do I need to do something else. I'm not a tech person so please take it easy on me and use regular terminology if possible. I also upgraded to windows 10 if that helps.*

Hey guys!

I'm looking to upgrade from 8GB to 16GB whats the safest ram to use which brand and model? I'm not fussed if its 2x4GB or 1 stick of 8GB i just can't find any information anywhere on which one is the most compatible.
