Adding RAM to G75

Hello I'm new to these forums so sorry if there is already a thread on this. I have a G75VW-BBK5 (bought from Bestbuy) It currently has 8 gigs of RAM and I am planning on adding more to get 16 gigs of RAM, I Don't know too much about the speeds and brands of RAM and was wondering what would you recommend me buying, sorry if this question sounds dumb but I just don't know much on what exactly I'm supposed to be looking for. not a con either, i just will not ever have a need for the ram, and would be another 50 bucks of the already sale price i got laptop for, not to mention once i image the hardrive thats going also, as the day i bought laptop i pulled the hd out for my ssd.
and,
to add the corsair ram from original post works just fine..
2 x 8 =16gigs of ram,,anything more would be overkill and a waste of battery power when mobile.
already i find having the ssd in there i can run fps games unplugged,,thats crazy to be able to do that, i love this new laptop.

I want to ask about adding ram to my Asus G75VX, Im thinking to buy Kingston hyperx ram 8gb 1600mhz for my laptop, but I don't know which type is suitable with my laptop. just now I opened kingston website, then I saw some model of Kingston hyperx, do you have any suggestion for that ram? because in my area, it's easier to claim Kingston warranty compared to another brand. thanks before.

since you're adding ram instead of full swapping (remove and replace stock ram with these hyperx ram), the different CL timings will cause issues (most probably downclocking to 1333MHz). from what i've read from the website they are of CL9, but your stock ram is running at CL11.

ooo I see, now im confused, do you have any suggestion which brand that I should buy?? because in my hometown is like a village or small city without any mall here, so it's not easy to buy ram with various brand.. they sell some brand only, not many brand.. for now as I know, they only sell Kingston and corsair. please help me.. if u have any info to buy it, please include it in your next post. thanks a lot.

you can check out this list for compatible ram. for kingston, i previously had 2x8gb of this brand running nicely. please make sure you install them properly.

In my G75VX I currently have the stock Hynix 8GB (2 x 4G) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM 1600 Cas: CL11 1.5v

I need more RAM and I only want to mess with the accessible memory slots so I was considering:

G.SKILL 16GB (2 x 8G) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Laptop Memory Model F3-1600C10D-16G...
with timings of 10-10-10

or

G.SKILL 16GB (2 x 8G) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Laptop Memory Model F3-1600C11D-16G...
with timings of 11-11-11

Questions:

1) Can I safely mix RAM from different manufacturers?

2) Can I mix different sizes in each slot 8 - 4 - 8 - 4 to get 24G?

3) Should I go with the 2 x 8G that matches the 11-11-11-11 timings of my stock memory?

4) Has anyone successfully upgraded with either of these specific G.Skill memory upgrades?

sorry but you linked to the wrong page for each link (they should be vice versa).

1) yes, provided the new ram are fully compatible with the stock ram (same timings, same voltage, etc.); previously i used to have kingston's 2x8gb for 24gb.

2) yes, as long as you put the new compatible ram in the user accessible ram slots (i.e. 2x8gb);

3) you should; they should be compatible with the stock ram;

4) i think i saw someone with 2x4gb g.skill 11-11-11 (but if possible, try bring your laptop to the shop and test them out first). i did a full swap, so they worked well for g.skill 10-10-10. but in your case, i think the closest is the one with 11-11-11.
