Abnormal Battery Drain and Unexpected Shutdowns on ROG G15

Hi, I am experiencing significant battery drain issues with my ROG G15 (G513rc)laptop. #ROG STRIX G15 2022 G513

 * Unpredictable Battery Drain:

   * After a system restart or shutdown, the battery frequently drains to 0% within 3-4 hours, even when the laptop is left idle.

   * In some instances, the laptop fails to start although having some battery charge. It requires being plugged in to turn on, even though it may subsequently display a high battery percentage (91%). However, unexpected shutdowns occur around 30-40% battery, often triggered by launching resource-intensive applications like Armory Crate, Steam, or other demanding software.

 * Rapid Battery Discharge on Restart:

   * Consecutive restarts (3-4 times) can cause the battery to drain completely, even when fully charged. This behavior suggests an abnormal power consumption pattern during startup cycles.

 * Unexpected Shutdown and Idle Consumption:

   * In a recent incident, after charging to 37%, the laptop failed to boot properly. It became unresponsive with a black screen, while the fans continued to run and the keyboard backlight remained illuminated. A forced shutdown was necessary.

   * Subsequently, the laptop reported 0% battery and displayed a low-battery warning. Despite this, it remained operational for approximately 45 minutes, with the CPU surprisingly idling at a very low frequency (395 MHz).

 * Short Battery Life and Software-Related Issues:

   * Even with a full charge, the battery life is significantly reduced, typically lasting only around 2 hours.

   * Launching demanding software like Steam or games often results in immediate shutdowns, regardless of the remaining battery charge.

I am uncertain whether these issues stem from a faulty battery or software-related problems.

  • I would greatly appreciate any assistance from the community or professional technicians in diagnosing and resolving these concerns.

Thank you.
