It took me 4 years and absolutely no help from Asus to finally find out why my STRIX-G17 crashes on 98% of games. (still has to be confirmed but I just spent a week without a crash after crashing every 15 minutes).
Turns out Asus makes laptops that you can boost to Performance or Turbo to do some gaming, but those modes absolutely crash games.
Now I play on Silent and don't get any crash.
How dumb is that?! Those modes are on the computer EXACTLY for those reasons. Play and do other very demanding things. And it's those modes that prevent you from doing these activities.
Good job Asus, and thanks for nothing

Hi @RomanonamoR
Blaming Turbo and Performance modes as a generalisation is probably a bit of a stretch. These modes are designed to push performance, yes, but they also rely on thermals, drivers, BIOS settings, and power delivery all functioning correctly. If your system is crashing in those modes while others are stable, it's most probably an individual issue with your specific unit or config.
It’s great that switching to Silent mode has improved stability, but concluding that “ASUS makes laptops that crash when you use the performance modes they advertise” is an overgeneralisation that ignores both nuance and troubleshooting practices.
You mention it took four years to identify the issue, but haven’t clarified whether you ever reached out to ASUS support or sent the unit in for inspection. If not, it’s hard to fairly claim “absolutely no help” when help was never formally requested or engaged with. I can't see any posts from you. If you have a service ticket or any other info, feel free to share it service staff over in ROG Care. The unit shouldn't exhibit these problems simply because it's running in alternative performance profiles.
