2x8Gb ram upgrade to G53JW-A1

Hi,

I recently felt the need to upgrade the amount of ram I my trusty laptop and managed to obtain a pair of 8gb 1333MHz PC3-10600 Patriot SODIMM (mainly to multitask, CAD and using VMware). I feel confortable enough with the laptop to atempt to acces the hidden DIMM slot 1 to install the two sticks in dual channel.

My first question is will the laptop support the dual 8GB sticks?

My second question is seeing a 32Gb config has been acheived with a g53jw-3de :

http://rog.asus.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-3039.html?

Is a hypothetical future upgrade to 32Gb possible by leaving the two last slots open? Is it better and possible to leave the 2GB Stick that is already in the hidden slot and replace the two others with the 8 GB sticks ? (18 GB?)

I do run windows 7 professional x64

If anyone has experience with my concern please help.

Thanks

Please follow the ASUS sepc from asus support site, if over spec you can try by youself, ASUS can not promise.

I know i was unable to upgrade past 16gb in my g53jw. And i did access the hidden slot.

That is not surprising. The G53JW runs an i7-740QM and the chipset for that cannot address more than 16 GB. 16GB is a lot of RAM, plenty for most needs (at least, mine on my G53SX).
I am disturbed because I cannot break my system...found out there were others trying to cope! We have a support group on here, if your system will not break, please join!
