Should I get the ASUS ROG Swift PG278Q?

I've been doing a research for quiet a while now, I am building a new pc with GTX970 and I am looking for a 1440p gaming monitor. Firstly I came across the PB278Q however many people said that it suffers from ghosting and it is 60hz so I wasn't really interested so then I came across the ASUS ROG Swift PG278Q which looked like a great overall monitor but the reviews killed my hype. Are the problems really frequent amongst buyers?

Should I get it or just wait since there isn't any good 1440p gaming monitors out yet.

Do NOT buy this low quality monitor that rapes your wallet. Mine broke in a month

Why not? Did you have some issues? Had nothing but goodness from this screen here:D And the price is ok for what you get, i remember when i bought an Acer 3d 120hz 27inch 1080p screen when they were new tech it was not that much cheaper than the Swift.

Its September and have had it since late November, when i bought it i asked my supplier to check it out for me before sending it out they are good like that, they are a business thats gamer orientated so they knew what to look for, i said if it had issues i would send it straight back:D being an expensive panel, And if something happens i can send it back to them for replacement they will deal with Asus,

I got mine just after Christmas and I too can't believe I used to play BF4 at 60Hz. The change to 144Hz is stunning.

Anyone with a Dec 2014 or Jan 2015 build date having any of the common dead pixels or inversion/blurry text issues still?

Gosh, amazon.de still sends out June built Swifts? Holy....that shows that this thing is no good seller.....and I hoped that amazon at least had the latest in stock.
And concerning the scratches...well, thats exactly what I said many times. ASUS QA sucks....its terrible. You paid 750€ for a Monitor that is not perfect...thats a lot of money for something that might not satisfy you 100%.
I can only recommend that anyone waits for all the new monitors that will show up starting in march.....maybe there are some other manufacturers with decent QA.
Asus has gone downhill the last 12-16 months.

I'd say only buy this monitor if you can accept that fact that there is a very high chance that it will go wrong.
I'm now on my second Asus Swift which has also now gone tits up.

Now if there just were more dealers like the one zimzoid has.

Ideally I would have gotten the monitor from a local store. For it seems it would be easier to handle issues. Like if it's from Fry's near where I live. For there is a 15 or 30 day liberal return policy on items bought from them. Although beyond that time frame, then I assume I'd have to deal with Asus. But, it was a hassle finding one in stock. Demand exceeding supply. It reminded me of when a new iPhone comes out, you can either get lucky and find one somewhere or you have to wait for it get back in stock. I eventually got mine through NewEgg. I used InStockNow.net to notify me when they had one in stock. For NewEgg's autonotify system mostly did not work for me. For an online retailer, I like NewEgg. Although if you return hardware there is a restocking fee based on a % of the value of your item. I was able to return a Corsair keyboard that way.

So far so good with my Swift. I'm enjoying it.

Well, then all the best to you. I´m always baffled how you guys in the states seem to have supply issues with this monitor. Here in Europe that thing is available almost everywhere. A retailer close to me has 3 in stock since October - not a single one sold.
