ROG Swift PG32UQ Unable to Access BIOS

Drejacks
Level 7
Hey everyone, new to the forum. Recently just built a rig with Maximus Apex Z690 i9-12900k and I am using a ROG Swift PG32UQ for the monitor.
My issue is that it is impossible to access the BIOS due to the time the monitor takes to initialize. I have disabled fast boot and allowed my USB hub to stay awake. I have tried using a wireless and wired keyboard and still cannot see the Asus logo where the window of opportunity lies to hit "Del" or "F2"... it goes directly to the Windows logon screen when restarted or when powering on from being shutdown.
I have the latest BIOS for the MOBO and firmware version 0204 for the monitor.

If I switch to a generic HP monitor I am able to see the Asus logo and hit the "Del" keys and thus access the bios, but not on the ROG Swift PG32UQ.

Any feedback or help would be greatly appreciated.

Just want to reassure you guys that we are aware of the situation and a workaround will be available soon. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your patience.

I believe the problem is the DisplayPort Deep Sleep option needs to be disabled in the monitor's Firmware through the On Screen Display. I don't know if the PG32UQ doesn't have this option (the PG32UQX does) but I do know for a fact that the XG279Q lacks this option and I have the exact same problem as these guys have where sometimes the monitor is not detected during bootup because of this Deep Sleep option. My old PG279Q had the option to disable this setting and I never once had problems accessing the BIOS or seeing my screen during boot. Ever since switching to this XG279Q, I've been unable to access the BIOS and I'm 100% positive it's because of the Deep Sleep setting.

Please, tell your engineers to add a firmware update for these monitors to ensure they have access to this setting as it greatly improves the usability of the product. Thank you.

Here's my thread where I detail this problem and other users air their frustrations with it as well: https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?123111-XG279Q-NEEDS-firmware-update-to-remove-deep-sleep&p...

The firmware update is now available for download. Once done with the firmware update, perform a reset, then a pop-up will allow you to switch to standard mode.

Direct file download: https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/LCD%20Monitors/PG32UQ/ASUS_PG32UQ_FW_V034_and_update_SOP.zip

Alternatively, you can change the setting manually in the UI as well.

MasterC did you see my post about the XG279Q also needing a similar firmware update too? The monitor cannot access BIOS or safe mode operating system screens because it is too slow to wake up from power saving features. Please let your engineers know this monitor desperately needs such a firmware update as well. Here's a thread I made over a year ago where we talk about this problem: https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?123111-XG279Q-NEEDS-firmware-update-to-remove-deep-sleep&p...

It's officially been a month. Anything going on? I can't access BIOS and see boot sequence on this monitor because the power saving option makes it so slow to wake up that the graphics card ignores it during bootup.

The new v034 firmware solved the issue. With it, you can disable the deep sleep state, which fixes almos every problem regarding the video signal.

Yeah but that's for a different model monitor with the same problem. Mine is XG279Q and needs the same firmware solution, I called it over a year and a half ago. No monitor today should be released without these sleep options.

Sorry for the wait, a solution is coming, may not be that soon but it's coming.

It's been over a month now, any updates on this? This forum is totally dead by the way, only 2 posts TOTAL over that month yikes 😬
