I just purchased this monitor new and I am wondering if what I am seeing on the dark screen here is normal, or if I should RMA it. From what I understand the Z model should have better QC on the panel. I appreciate your help.
all panels have some glow around edges, i just bought one pg279q and i see some glow around top and bottom right corner, it's normal, and you should notice this only in dark games with lights off

That is more shoddy Asus quality control and not IPS glow. I would RMA it. If it was IPS glow it would not be blasting out from one corner like that. Even if you took a bad picture and overexposed it shows off the backlight bleed.
