I was replying to the OP. Your post says v033, which would obviously imply that 033 is the firmware you're using. Reports seem to pertain to HDR issues, which 037 resolves. Do you have threads with multiple users describing the behaviour in the OP (i.e colour depth when on HDMI)?

Firmware v037 does NOT solve HDR issues at all. Still washed out on PC and Xbox Series X. Nor does it solve OP’s issue either. Asus support stated in an email to a user that another firmware is coming to address HDR. (Found on Reddit)

It looks like it doesn't address the saturation levels, that was my mistake. I'll take a look and see if we can get an ETA given that's what the response was

Read these two threads: https://www.reddit.com/r/OLED_Gaming/comments/13yr3b6/asus_sent_me_pg42uq_firmware_v037

HDR is still broken, 037 did not address these issues.

I can confirm that V037 didn't change anything in regards with HDR tone mapping issues. It's been at least 2 months and half that I was told by Asus support that they are fully aware of the issue and they're working on trying to solve it with a new firmware. Initially, it was supposed to be launch by the end of May, then it was end of June, now I have no news since then. I was just confirmed that V037 is not the firmware that is supposed to correct HDR issues. By the way, since I've updated to V037, randomly my screen becomes black and I have to power recycle it to make it work again. Another issue that I didn't have with previous versions. With Asus, it's one step forward, one step backward with each new firmware... It's getting tiring...

Thanks, will try and get a status update.
Can you confirm at what settings the screen goes black? I.e does it still occur at 120Hz? Have seen a few cables exhibit this behaviour on this panel and then behave normally once replaced.

I've been using my screen in 120Hz mode only so yes I had the black screen issue at that frequency.
Btw, I use the display port cable that was provided with the screen.
Thanks for your future updates.

Still getting black screens. Never happened on v033. Might have to roll back. On 037, at least once a day I am getting black screens. The only fix is to unplug the monitor and plug it back. This happens on both DisplayPort and HDMI 2.1 connections (PC, Mac, and Xbox Series X). All running 4K 120Hz. It is seemingly random with no pattern as to why it might trigger.

I have experienced the black screen thing on 037 also. Happened a few times to me on HDMI and DisplayPort.

Good news for whoever still owns this monitor - Asus ROG Swift OLED PG42UQ.
I am not going to test it anymore as I already packed inside box waiting for selling.
V040 firmware changes - Optimize HDR color performance.
