After testing numerous games, turning HDR on is actually dimmer than SDR. SDR is brighter than HDR on PG35VQ in any HDR application. However, HDR in Windows seems to work as well as on YouTube HDR videos, comparing the same HDR video on YouTube between the PG27UQ & PG35VQ side-by-side produces a very similar colorful and bright result. However the PG35VQ will not activate HDR in any exclusive application, using it is actually a markedly worse and unusable image. I've tried numerous refresh rate configurations with RGB, YCbCr422, YCbCr444, 8 or 10-bit... no configuration will activate HDR properly on the PG35VQ.
