Hello there fellow PG348Q owners!
I bought the monitor over a month ago and during this time identified a possible improvement to the experience of work with it.
TLDR:
The idea is for the monitor to shut down LiM (Light-in-Motion) when there is no signal from the PC - the monitor sleeps.Motivation:
The main motivation behind this feature is that e.g. I sleep in the same room as the PC. I like the LiM while playing but want darkness to sleep. Therefore I need to switch the display on and off each time I do this to the computer. Alternatively I can turn off LiM completely and can leave the monitor to go to sleep and wake with my PC.
The first option is bad because:
- requires me to search the power button on the monitor each time I turn on and off my PC and power toggle it,
- the second option seems better as I do not have to power toggle the display but I loose LiM feature.
Possible fix (from a dev point of view):
Forwarding the display status (link/no link) to Light-in-Motion controller shouldn't be a big issue to code.
The monitor already has this information as the main led sets accordingly.
To be honest tt is only a matter of adding:
- pre-sleep call to change the LiM flag to 0,
- post-wake call to change the flag to the previously configured.
Possible problem:
How to update the monitor FW on client side.
