PG32UQ - sometimes weird colors and 4800x2160 mode

Anyone know why my PG32UQ ( Radeon RX6900XT HDMI 2.1 2160p@120hz HDR 4:4:4) sometimes malfunctions and the screen shows "psychadelic" vertical stripes and thinks it is 4800x2160 instead of 3840x2160?

Anyone know how to prevent that? When it happens I have to unplug and the replug the HDMI cable to "reset" it back to 3840x2160.
