PG32UQ Refresh Rate OC 144Hz or 155Hz?

Hi there,

Okay so I've had this monitor about a week now, and some reviews I've seen suggest this monitor can be overclocked to 155Hz.

My monitor only lets me select either 60Hz or 120Hz, and the OC allows me to hit 144Hz. It is not possible to reach 155Hz at all?

I'm using a PC with an Asus RTX 3080 Strix.

Forgot to mention I'm using the HDMI 2.1 and I have tried both ports in the back.

I will try the Display Port cable and see if that changes anything. There is no firmware available to update anything as it's so new.

So what, is there something wrong with mine? Firmware wasn't updated, no available firmware anywhere?

Anybody else have one with the same issue?

Shows up fine on mine. RTX 3080 connected via DP. I usually leave it off as there's not much difference from 144Hz to 155Hz and having it enabled removes some of the available refresh rates in my display settings.

Yeah just tried with the DP cable, now it's native is 144Hz and it lets me OC to 155Hz.

I can't understand that though, why wouldn't the HDMI 2.1 cable allow me to select 144Hz as native, it restricts me to 120Hz and only lets me hit 144Hz with OC.

Not a major problem - so which cable is actually better then for PC use?

For this monitor? DisplayPort is better. On a technical level? HDMI 2.1 has more bandwidth than DP 1.4. The discrepancy between the two on this monitor is probably a limitation of the scaler onboard. I prefer the security of latching DP cables so I'm currently using one that I purchased separately instead of the included cable.

You are not harvesting the true power of the monitor then because the DP cable that comes in the box is a special ROG DP cable 😉

Edit: Which settings are you using for general web browsing? Any chance you could share it with me?

The default settings are fairly accurate on this monitor, just oversaturated in most applications due to the wide color gamut. Shouldn't be too much of an issue for games however. Set it to sRGB Mode to bring the saturation back in line for general use. You'll need calibration hardware and software to actually dial in the colors. There is currently no OSD RGB control to adjust your white point in sRGB mode. Calibrating and profiling the monitor takes care of that issue.
