Just checked: PG27 production starts now in May, so mid/late May/early June for first markets depending on how it's being shipped.
Not sure X series yet. It's often mostly waiting for mass-production of panel availability and/or mass production to meet a certain quality standard.
For the record: Monitors don't wait for graphics cards. They just launch on their own schedule.*

As you brought up, MarshallR, there's apparently a PG27 normal series and an X series. Are you able to tell us what the difference between the two versions are, including which is more expensive?
Also is it possible for you to tell us the bare minimum price of the monitors will be in USD for America? Because europe prices for tech have always been more expensive and adjusting for currency displays this difference.
Thank you

ICYMI, 2 tech review sites have picked up on this and listed the prices on their site.
Turns out the Acer Predator is also coming around the same time. Anyway:

Well, there's a *
It is, but its 422, because there's simply not enough cable bandwidth. [Most TVs aren't 444 either.]
Another way to think of it: very fast SDR gaming (b/c not every title will translate well into HDR), fast HDR gaming and great for HDR media and applicable for prosumer use.
Thread title was changed to just keep it simple as the discussion here is broad.

I'm fine with 98hz. No way I can push framerate past 98 at 4K anyway.
I just hope the HDR is great, no QC problem like PG279Q and the price is around $2000.
Should we expect the FALD performance is as good as the best FALD TV today, which is Sony Z9D? That TV also has hundreds of zones and only 92% DCI-P3, but it is true 10-bit and >1000 nits of brightness. Reviews show little to no blooming and haloing.

Hi,
As I haven’t been in possession of one of these high performance displays, could someone please help me out with these *questions:
1) will running at 444 instead of 422 result in lower frame rate in games or will the FPS be unaffected?
2) what happens when one tries to select a setting combination that exceeds their cable’s bandwidth?
Thanks. *

EDIT: seems like Z9D can cover around 96% DCI-P3, so a little bit more than PG27UQ.

Sony has similar tech to the PA - 14-bit lookup table and "TRILUMINOS™ Display" is the same Quantum Dot film.
