Just checked: PG27 production starts now in May, so mid/late May/early June for first markets depending on how it's being shipped.

Not sure X series yet. It's often mostly waiting for mass-production of panel availability and/or mass production to meet a certain quality standard.

For the record: Monitors don't wait for graphics cards. They just launch on their own schedule.*

On this retailer site, the Acer Predator X27 is listed as to be shipped April 5th. Because ASUS usually release their version a little earlier than Acer/the other manufacturers, it is likely that the PG27UQ will be released (assuming that shipping date is correct) during March, this would also still stick to the Q1 2018 release window.

I personally feel you're better off waiting as it should launch there soon. The custom taxes, shipping and warranty etc seem a little too much for me. I live in the UK so it's different as there are no custom checks between EU countries. I am therefore also interested to know how the warranty works internationally 🙂

yeah I have been reading post and it seems the US variant shouldn't cost more than $2000 So I will happily pay that time to play the wait game

I think it'll cost > $2,500 USD. Asus first announced the price to be EUR $2,000 but have now raised it to $2,500. The USD price must also follow this rise otherwise it wouldn't be logical.

IF I order direct from a eurosite will I still get the standard asus 3 year warranty on the panel ? for the pg27uq

Lol @ Asus warranty.. I had the most terrible experience with that ever with an Asus notebook, of any company I ever ordered anything from. It was the epitome of incompetence and brazeness and they only eventually did something (which didn't include actually fixing the hardware problem) after I threatened with handing it over to a lawyer.
The touchpad wasn't working properly: After some hours of usage, it would degrade electrically more and more resulting in a very jumpy mouse cursor that randomly executes clicks and skips quickly up and down even though you don't do anything on the touchpad, making it completely unusable. I sent it in and they said "we fixed it" and shipped it back - turns out they didn't fix ****, it was still the exact same problem. With and without PSU attached btw. Next I sent it in again and complained the touchpad still goes crazy, they sent it back and said they didn't find anything, lol. I called them and said it's still broken touchpad and wtf, the guy said I should record video of that - and "it should at most be 4 MB in size" rofl. That's kinda impossible so I recorded a bunch of vids (60 MB) where you see the touchpad going completely crazy after some hours of use, mouse cursor jumping like crazy and trying to click results in random clicks of left/right/scrolling instead of what you really clicked. I tested it on Win 10 but also on Linux to make sure it was OS-independant problem, and yes, same prob on all OS. So they had te videos now that show exactly the prob, yet they had the audacity to claim a 3rd time that nothing was wrong and even wanting to CHARGE ME 50 bucks lol. Further it seemed one technician had no idea what I just told the other previously and that the videos even existed and that some other of them asked me abot it, it was internally complete chaos @ asus support! On the internet some random dude said that Asus UX330CA had electrical issues with touchpad and actually the notebook chassis is electrically charged, you indeed feel this when moving the upper side of your finger over it (while PSU is plugged in), wth. Further when using my Bose ANC earpads with the notebook the audio out will acutally have a net hum disturbance in it while the notebook's PSU is plugged in! To make it go away I have to physically tough the metal chassis with my hand, lol what quality is that?? Anyway, Asus returned the (unfixed) UX330CA notebook to me without charging 50 eur only after I threatened with lawyer. 😞

Let's try to be understanding of what can and can't be done, though. I don't understand it could be called 2nd class given it's the first 4K 144Hz monitor with HDR capability, DCI-P3, FLAD and premium G-Sync all thrown in - that's more than everything in any other gaming monitor, bar size (until the 35" arrives). What other panel could combine super-wide color with that res and that speed? It's not simply a game of picking out specs because somethings are mutually exclusive with current technologies. The HDR (display) ecosystem is in its infancy on PC (even though we've had HDRR since DX9.0c/SM3.0).

but its not 4k HDR at 144hz, only 98Hz.

2500 is still too much for a 27inch monitor no matter the tech. 10 years ago $600 used to get you an amazin dell monitor now its gone from 1200for the 3year old PG279q to 2500 for PG27uq. PG279Q was a disaster. I am using it right now and it the worst monitor I owned in terms of the panel quality. the lower right corner is a horrible glow.

These monitors better be top notch for who ever is willing to pay $2.5k

also why was the thread title changed? Its the ETA no longer May ?
