PG279Q Backlight bleed

Hello,
so I got the PG279Q in November and was pretty happy with it. But after using it for a while I noticed that on black screens my bottom left corner was slightly more lit than the others. Now I looked at it on a completely black screen with light switched off and you can definitely see some backlight bleed going on. I can live with the amount of bleed I have but I just wanted to ask if this is normal or if ASUS can do better? I'd like to hear your opinions on my BLB and please tell me what you would do when getting a monitor like this.

Monitors default brightness outofthebox is 80. In my oppinion 35 is enough atleast for me. Not sure how many "nits" it is though.

try the sRGB mode, on my PG279Q in that mode it is measured at 150 nits. so you can more or less tell if your setting of brightness level 35 is more or less than 150 nits.

Seems sRGB default values are less bright than 35. It is close though.

Here's an interesting link that i found from some forum, check if your serial number is in those numbers: http://pcdiy.asus.com/2016/03/on-backlight-bleed-with-the-rog-swift-pg279q-gaming-monitor/0

Mine is not.

Mine was produced in Jan 2016 and the serial number is outside of the range yet it does have some BLB. I know cameras can exaggerate this so I'm trying to evaluate this with my own eyes. My problem is that I only have a few days left until my e-tailer's 30 day return policy to ends.

I did switch to sRGB mode which did reduce the perceived problem.

However, I've recently noticed that I can see part a broken vertical line on the left hand edge as if there is a image behind the screen. Is this normal?

Finally, I have never been able to put the monitor in 165hz mode. I can check the box in the OST but it never sticks and Windows 10 only shows the 144hz max. I even tried plugging in the DisplayPort cable to my other (SLI) GTX 970 - the issue still exists.

I need some convincing here. Does any of this seem normal after "the unit has already passed advanced screening"?

What about customers from EU? I received my 3rd one today and I'm going to return it due to BLB again. It's January 2016 batch apparently..

WOW. But what about the rest of the "World" aside from North America?

Is your Serial number in the range? If so, you can try issue RMA at customerloyalty@asus.com

About the 165hz...you have to press the joystick down one more time when it prompts about changing hz then it will reboot itself. I had to figure it out too myself.

The broken vertical line doesn't sound normal to me, i am not seeing anything like that.

The thing is, if the blb issues bothers you in real life usage or bothers you at all, then i think you should return. I am keeping mine because it doesn't bother me and they won't rma it anyway. It could get just worse if i forced it to change.

Well after turning down the brightness using sRGB, I think I'm good on BLB. Here's a pick of that left hand vertical light issue. This is the second game where I've noticed this:
