I have struggled with this from day 1. I have 3 x 780ti and 3 x PG278Q monitors configured for G-Sync @ 144hz.
Getting surround to work in G-Sync (or any mode/frequency) is near impossible, however.
With a fair bit of effort (maybe a dozen or two tries), I can usually get tri-screen enabled and in the proper order w/r to cursor moving across all three. Once in that mode, it's fine and persists without issue through reboots.
To get Nvidia Surround enabled usually takes 100 or more attempts and dozens of reboots. Again, once enabled it persists without issue.
However, if I change just once from surround back to tri-screen, that's it...whether or not I reboot first, it will take an act of god to reenable surround (and more than likely, I will lose tri-screen again in the attempts to get surround reenabled).
Has anyone found a fairly reliable or repeatable method to get them enabled for NVidia surround? This is the one aspect that has driven me absolutely crazy and it terrifies me to even attempt switching out of Surround for the handful of games or multi-screen uses that necessitate it. I LOVE these screens and this setup when it works...but getting it to work initially is beyond frustrating.
Things I've tried:
I replaced all original cables (which helped with tri-screen enabling) from the horrible ones supplied and had to initially replace my first card due to a non-functioning DP (which I learned only after the PG278Qs had finally arrived months ago). So all hardware is in good order and has been for months now. I've tried numerous permutations on the order of monitor to card hookup, numerous permutations of the desktop and primary display ordering (once tri-screen is enabled), and numerous permutations within the NVidia control panel.
I tried removing the tri-sli adapter but then you cannot enable surround mode.
Twice I have booted in safe mode to remove and reinstall the drivers...this fixed NVidia 3D recognition initially (on the rare occasions I use it) but has otherwise not had effect for the above.
I removed fake/redundant monitor profiles including the default generic ones and installed the Win 7 profiles for the Asus monitors even though I'm on Windows 8.1 x64. This actually helped last time when I hadn't been able to get it reenabled for a couple of weeks and hundreds of attempts and permutations of hookups, layouts, and frequencies/modes.
I do finally have it working again as of a few minutes ago...been without surround for the last week and well over 100 various combinations of attempts again.
