so here is my pb:

Hi,
it seems i have the same pb with my PG248Q (it's the 2nd one after RMA the 1st for the same pb).
Is it normal that when i am changing game visual to another it reset all my color setting to default? (brightness/contrast/saturation/colorTemp).
switching from a game visual to another (by middle click or right click on the joystick button when i select another game visual profile) is like when i middle click on the joystick button after changing setting without switching to another game visual profile, it reset all color setting.
The only setting saved is gamma (who is common to all setting where it is available, if i change it in FPS Mode it will change it in Racing Mode for exemple, but this is not a big pb and i think normal in the firmware)
It is my 2nd PG248Q from the same retailer (amazone France) cause i RMA the 1st one since i read this post but i note the same pb on the 2nd one.

So is it a pb on the firmware of this serie of screen or is it normal?
The only way to keep color setting is to stay always on the same game visual profile, everytime i change it, color settings are reset to default.
i am afraid to get a 3rd screen with the same pb if i RMA it again to the same retailer.

i can give you serial numbers on the package of those 2 screen if needed (i have 20 days before sending the 1st RMA to my retailer)

UPDATE: everything below this is wrong. you are supposed to be able to adjust the gamemode visuals to your liking and it should save the profile as is. if you switch between profiles it should keep all settings.

If I'm wrong someone correct me but the preset visual modes are preset color settings along with brightness. If you use a preset it is no longer using your custom color setting. as soon as you set your custom color setting you are no long using the preset. I don't believe you can select a preset with it keeping your custom color profile. I have a PG279q and a few dells and HP monitors, they all act the same way.

thx for help, that could explain what i call a pb which is not one apparently, but i find this strange.
so there is no way to store custom colors on the PG248Q in one of the gamevisual Profile if I switch to another GameVisual Profile and come back to the one i modified with my own colors settings?
I had an asus VH226H before and i could save my own setting in each of the factory preset (there were an option to reset each one separatly or all at a same time for info, i note that on the PG248Q there is only a "reset all" option).

then what i dont understand is the answer "solved" on the post i linked describing the same pb:
Solved
Okay RMA the monitor and the new one is saving setting when changing from a GameVisual to an other.

on my PG248Q when i select a GameVisual Profile and change settings, then switch to another Gamevisual Profile and come back to the one i modified, "image setting"(OD, AdaptativeContrastControl,DarkBoost,ULMB) are saved but not "color setting"(Brightness, Contrast,Saturation,ColorTemp; exept for Gamma which is saved..)

color setting"(Brightness, Contrast,Saturation,ColorTemp

I believe those are all part of the Game visual default which can't change. The settings that are saved don't change with the game visuals right? pick one. check the settings and then pick another and check again. see if the settings other than the ones above are the same. all the settings that stay the same are not part of the game visual defaults and can be changed to your liking and wont change with the game visuals. But look at it like this, If you set to "Racing mode" and this isn't the exact settings im just making this up. But say racing mode is RGB 95,97,96. Once you change the Color to say 95,95,95. That is now a custom setting and is no long the racing setting. the monitor will auto switch to using custom RGB. The "Racing" profile is not a profile you can save over. I don't believe there is a way to create your own "racing profile" then your own" scenery" profile and all of them.

yes that's like what you said, but this is very strange behaviour.
impossible to save your own colors settings in any "factory preset" or at least one "user preset" to save it.. i have never seen that in any other screen (TV/PC screen..).
usually on a screen you can change all setting as you want in any preset, they are auto saved and you have an option to "reset all" or "reset this preset".
disappointing asus choice for 400E professional screen..

But again what i read on the other post make me thinking about a pb with this series of pg248q (since this is my 2nd pg248q with the same pb):
https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?90095-Save-custom-color-on-PG248Q&p=636488#post636488

Is there a way to save customs colors setup on the PG248Q. Everytime I change preset I loose my configuration.

Okay RMA the monitor and the new one is saving setting when changing from a GameVisual to an other.

this guy talk about "custom colors" settings not saving when changing from a GameVisual to an other (i understand when he comeback to the one he changed "custom colors" after switching to another) and not about "custom image" settings.
ex: RacingMode, set brightness to 20, switch to FPSMode, switch to RacingMode, and brightness was reset to 80 (not autosaved to 20).
and after RMA he said that now "settings" are saved "when changing from a GameVisual to an other" (i understand "custom colors" since that was the pb he mentionned)

but you said that your PG279q (with nearly same firmware than PG248Q) and your others screens have the same behaviour (dont save "color setting" in any factory preset), so it seems this is a normal behaviour.
so why is he talking about solved pb..
really thx for help but you must understand why i am baffled, cause again it's very strange you can't save all settings in a "user preset" or any others "factory preset".

so the only possibility to keep all my settings (including brightness/contrast etc.. and not only "image" settings) is to never switch to a "factory preset"?
annoying when you want some customs settings in game and others on desktop.

If you change your custom profile to 95-95-95 and save. then select a game visual. when you select custom again. it should still be 95-95-95. I misunderstood what you meant earlier I think. If your custom profile resets after a power off or by selecting a different profile that is a problem (though minor). The custom profile is meant to be able to be saved as a profile. The game visual defaults cannot be overridden, but the custom can be saved to whatever settings you want provided the settings are changeable from within that profile. I'll verify when I get home later. but my dell and HP's save the custom at whatever I set it to. when I switch the profiles to a "default" profile the custom still stays the same when I switch back.

There is not "custom profile" or "default profile" (or a custom/default "GameVisual" as it is called in the OSD) i could modify.
To customise my own "color setting", i am forced to do it in one of the GameVisual Mode, and if i do it, change to another Gamevisual and/or comeback to the one i changed, my color setting are reseted to the factory color setting of this GameVisual Mode.
so depending from the last GameVisual Mode i selected (even if i turn OFF then ON the screen) , i click middle joystick to bring the OSD to customise color and i can see in upper right corner the name of the last GameVisual Mode selected, 1 of the 6 i write just under:

Scenery Mode (gamma not available)
Racing Mode (saturation not available)
Cinema Mode (gamma not available)
RTS/RPG Mode
FPS Mode
sRGB Mode (brightness/contrast/saturation/colorTemp/gamma not available)

(not available mean the option is greyed and i can't select it, as it is described in the manual for some GameVisual Mode)

it should save when i quit the OSD via left joystick or via the X button, but that save nothing when i change it, quit, switch to another GameVisual and comeback to the one i modified.
i just tested all 6 GameVisual Mode to custom color (ColorTemp ->User Mode: 95/95/95), quit via X button or left joystick, change to another GameVisual Mode and comeback to the one i modified and the color are reset to default (normal/warm/cool or UserMode 100/100/100 depending of the GameVisual Mode default setting)

So the big problem is i dont see any "user profile" or "user GameVisual Mode" to modify.
I am forced to modify settings in one of the 6 "GameVisual Mode" which cant be saved after i change to another one.
so if you can access to your PG279q and describe me how you do it that would be great , thx

for info here is the page of the manual who i think explain that you can save setting in any GameVisual Mode:
https://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2017/13/1490999285-sans-titre.png

3. Move the button up/down to change the settings of the selected function.
4. To exit and save the OSD menu, press the X button or move the left repeatedly until the OSD menu disappears.

I was wrong about the profiles. You had it spot on. I tested my 279q out and it saved everything you described fine switching profiles did not change any settings back to normal including brightness, gamma, contract, and rgb all stayed at what i left it at for each visual mode. The only option to reset them should be when you select the mode it has the reset button.

I came home last night and booted my computer to a no boot partition prompt so I had to manually transfer everything from my m.2 drive to my third storage drive using xcopy. after I got windows loaded back up I remembered you wanted me to check it out and I was totally wrong than what I thought earlier. I assume your monitor should work the same considering its the same GUI.

hey, got a 3rd PG248Q without this firmware(?) problem 😄

Since i couldn't get confirmation from PG248Q owners on this forum or i contacted on youtube, i was finally convinced this behaviour was strange but normal.
But i ordered a 3rd screen to my retailer cause the price decreased and they proposed me to send them back the 2nd screen to order a 3rd one to be refund and get a new one with better price.
i just received this 3rd screen , and surprise... ALL settings (color included with brightness/contrast etc..) in every GameVisual mode are saving even after switching between them!
That's just crazy that i need to order a 3rd screen to get it to work, that i got no official answer to apparently a known pb on PG248Q (see linked post at my 1st com) and most of all that ASUS doesn't recall or check all those screen they are selling at this moment with their retailer.
thx to my retailer amazone France for easy RMA and refund and again to you Crashcourse316, not to ASUS (for their quality check and communication..), even if this is a very good screen i am happy with it now (maybe one of the best 1080p 24" TN ulmb/g-sync on the market).
maybe i had to contact official ASUS support but i thought this forum was better.
