Buying new monitor, however have concerns. Please help!!

After much contemplating and, experiencing different types of monitors first hand, I am planning to buy a ASUS 1440p IPS monitor (still narrowing down on my options) however, I am seeing loads of complaints of black light bleed, pixels patch and, dead pixels, QA issues in general.

I am concerned on putting my money on any ASUS monitor due to very bad reviews in most of the online stores. Please help me out in confirming if this is no more an issue. Also, since am from a place where they might trickle down lesser quality displays, whilst the top cream (which too have issues) are sent to the first world countries!

To be honest, I myself ran into a few poor reviews of ASUS monitors. Which exact model are you looking at?

There are a few 4k monitors in the mix however, that is just for consideration. Am mainly looking for a 1440p 27" IPS panel which, if its 60Hz too is fine. If its 144Hz, its better too!

The only reason to include TN panels here is for the 144Hz and, also better in terms of no BLB, etc..

You'll want to stay away from LCD monitors to avoid back light bleed. On top of that, ASUS monitors seem to have a lot of dead pixels, from what I've read.

I'd trust some of the consumer reviews. When hunting for a PSU I thought I found a good one with EVGA's 850 GS but was discouraged by numerous negative reviews on Amazon and Newegg. Went to the EVGA forums and found similar scrutiny. So I chose EVGA's 850 P2 instead, paying a $10 penalty for a product that works brilliantly.

Yeah, that is one of the main reasons I held back on buying the monitor. Am back to square two now! 🙂

From the ones you have chosen I can't recommend any. What you should do first is read consumer reviews and pick the best of the litter where quality is concerned. Then you could make a decision based on pricing and aesthetics, etc... Trust me. Take the time and find out how many people are having issues and how predominant some issues really are.

I'd go with BenQ before ASUS or Dell. I suggest you look at some AOC stuff, as well.

Isn't 32" a bit big for 1440p resolution? I feel 27" is the best fit.. Acer Predator XB271HU bmiprz apparently uses the screen from the same manufacturer ASUS does and, are prone to BLB and pixel patches and dead pixels it seems..

So though, am tempted for the AOC one, am still thinking of the 32". Are there no good 27" options at all??? It's so hard to come by!!

I personally don't mind the size of the 32". At least at 1080p. And I watch my fair share of films on my current 32" monitor because I review them (hoping to start up a website soon), so I can sit farther away. If you're looking strictly at gaming 27" is probably for you.

I'm in the process of hunting for a 2.5k monitor myself, as you can see, so if I come across anything else I'll be sure to let you know.

People on the EVGA forum recommended the PG279Q to a member because they had good experiences with the 78Q, and as soon as he received it, didn't like it. Complained of severe blb and a line of dead pixels. This is why it's good to review hardware before purchasing. https://forums.evga.com/FindPost/2689891
