Good evening and happy new year,

I have a question. I want to buy the ASUS PG279Q SWIIFT Monitor and i was wondering if the g-synch is working with my GPU (GTX 780). i have already check that is compatible but as i see in many sites the maximum refresh rate that is supported by my gpu is 120Hz and not 165Hz. Is that correct?

Thank you,
Best Regards.

yes the maximum HZ is only for nvidia Serie 9xx cards. all others are limited to 120.

When i try this monitor to another pc with gtx780 i saw that there was a setting with 165hz. Also the fps counter of the monitor was countering 165hz and when the g-synch was enabled the hz configured to 144hz. In addition i have never see one official site from ASUS that says that it doesn't support.

One important note people should realise is that if you enable the overclocking feature in the OSD menu and are using a card lower than a GTX960 the monitor will report back to Windows that the maximum refresh rate is only 120Hz. If you disable the overclocking option again, you should be able to select 144Hz without any issue, as that's the native refresh rate supported by the panel. So only enable overclocking if you have a compatible graphics card and are pushing it above 144Hz. Likewise if you use a GTX960 or higher, the new maximum overclocked refresh rate will be available to select, but the next step down will be 120Hz. You will lose the 144Hz setting for some reason.

we always learn new things.

If you Overclock the display to 165 the 144 is gone since this is the HZ that is Overclocked to 165 so it is normal that it it gone. to use 144HZ again you have to reduce the OC to 144 or disable it.

sorry about the first misleading/wrong post

Thank you for your kind reply. I'll buy it and i'll wait for the release date of Nvidia 1000 series.
