Asus Monitor MacBook Pro external SSD gaming PC

Hey guys, Im 25 and live in germany Berlin. Im into Music Production & gaming. I have never asked somthing into forums. It's my first time. Well actually I've signed up at Linus Techs yesterday but I couldn't really get an answer on my question. So I thought why not directly asking Asus *Community for help.
In one of his Desk Setups, the Youtuber Jonathan pluged both a new gen. MacBook pro (2016) and a Samsung T3 SSD into a LG 4K Monitor but he could still use the SSD as an external storage for the MacBook although the SSD was pluged into the Monitor. Well great thing I thought. I want the same but with an Asus PG278QR but still want to be able to plug a gaming PC into the PG278QR.
*Music Production: Should I plug in my MacBook pro (2016) via hdmi or somthing else to the asus, whats the best, which cable are guys using- working with logic X or Video editing softwares? Will I be able to plug in the T3 to the Asus monitor and use it as an external SSD for my MacBook?
Gaming: Besides the Music Production setup, can I then still plug my gaming PC into the Asus Monitor? and Which cables, Hdmi or the other one that supports gsync? Here I think I go with the other one that supports gsync.xD I will run i5 7600K with an gtx asus 1070 & one of the new Z270 motherboards. I have the strix itx version in mind if I go with the NZXT Manta or the new white atx board from Asus. By the way my second question: is their any quality/performance differences between them 2? I mean itx vs Atx?

This is not a Thunderbolt monitor. It has a USB 3.0 hub so you would need to have a thunderbolt to usb 3.0 adapter connected to your macbook and then connect that to the USB 3.0 type B connector on the monitor. If you do that you can connect any USB 3.0 device to the type A ports.
