Windows Time Synchronization

My laptop is losing almost a minute every week (I.e. a week after synchronization it reads 7:12 when it is actually 7:13) and needs to be synchronized all the time... Why is it doing this? Is there some setting I can change somewhere to speed up the clock on the system?

you can do the test for RTC, into BIOS to set correct time than shout down the laptop and unplug all power include battery and adapter than after 24 or 48 hr, plug power to power on system into BIOS to see the time is correct or not. if time -5 or +5, it is ok, if over, you will send to RMA to check it.
also you can set time in control panel -> date and time.

I am at university at the moment and my laptop is in use all the time. I cannot turn it off for up to two days. I don't really see why it would need to be RMA'd if it is running slow? Is that a sign of a weak CMOS battery? I was under the assumption that the type that laptops utilize is recharged while the computer is plugged in as a measure to reduce maintenance.

I will be able to live with the clock running slow but it would be nice to find some way to keep it running on time.. My two and a half year old $400NZ netbook holds it's time perfectly.

Check out http://www.sevenforums.com/general-discussion/93325-windows-7-time-synchronization.html and get your laptop synchronized as often as you wish with an Atomic Clock Server. Then you'll only have time problems when you approach the speed of light...
