Hi all
Past two weeks windows has been taking a long time to load. Between the windows logo and the welcome screen I have a black screen which takes about 30 seconds to get past. I have a ssd so it normally takes about 15 sec from power on.

Ive done a virus check and checked all simple things it could be

So what could it be wise ROG members?

i had the same problem for me it was nvidia driver, now am using 290.36 and it boots up normal so try installing that and c what happens i wish the find the problem....

Have you looked in the Event Viewer to see what is happening during startup? Also, in msconfig, try booting up in diagnostic mode.

goldmouth is right for some of us the vga driver causes black screens after the windows logo the only one that solved my problem is v 268,37... good luck

mmm taking out the virus option it could be an ssd related problem...

do you have trim enabled for the ssd? if you don't, the ssd is probably filled up, even if it has free space, idk how they behave in windows if trim is disabled, i do know that running fstrim on linux periodically solves this issue... maybe there is a similar function in windows...

your ssd is full / nearly filled up? ssd's need space to do small file operations... i'm not going to explain how ssd's work... if you are really that interested google it, and you will learn why it is not wise to have them completely filled... there are also two school of thoughts on where should trim be enabled by default or not...

does windows have pagefile enabled? be sure you don't, it will wear off the ssd life, and you do have 16 gigs of ram... so i don't see a point for a pagefile...
