Why do I see more and more people switching back to Windows 7?

Everyday we have a new thread about Windows 7 and its drivers, how come most people are now switching to Windows 7 ??

I think it's sort of like buying a brand new car. It's usually not advisable to purchase the first year's model of a new makeover in any line of car, as there are always kinks, issues, recalls on parts, etc. I think that's even more so in the case of windows operating systems. At least, that's my take on it.

Though, that's not necessarily my reasoning. I just bought the JW and after playing with 8/8.1 for a few hours(maybe not even that long) I decided to take it back to 7 after finding a reliable DIY + drivers for this model computer. Honestly, I would have gone back to XP, as I have on my desktop still, if it was compatible with things nowadays. Just preference I suppose. We all know Vista was quite the bust, and 7 is much better. I guess some people aren't willing to make the leap to 8/8.1 and are skeptical of all the new features it has to offer, or simply don't want/need them... myself included.

i didn't try win 8 on it though i had the cd much more available than win 7, but worked on win 8 installed on other computers, and i just don't see the reason of the extra features+ i find win 7 more stable and comfortable...+ i had a hunch that i'd have to go for a downgrade from win 8 to 7, probably i was correct...oh, enough, i'm heading home to fix this awful thing that is happening with my volume keys. thanks so much, guys

It took me a long time to 'convert' to win8. Like most, I was 'annoyed' by it.
Then they released win8.1. Simple. Easy. Clean. Fast. Stable. I'll never go back. .c.

I really don't understand why people hate windows 8 so much. I'm running windows 8.1 and for daily use the only difference I've noticed is the start menu which I hardly use. Apart from that I actually quite like it (and this is coming from someone who has used windows 7 since it was released and I loved it)...

I use a Start Menu replacement called StartIsBack which is the best out of the Start Menu apps that I've tried and I don't see a difference between Windows 7 and 8.1 anymore as I never see the Metro interface, this is why I made this thread because I wanted to see what is making people to post daily about needing for help with Windows 7 drivers?

Windows 8 is really not hard to grasp.. Press the Windows key on the keyboard and bam... you're in desktop. Press Windows key to go to Metro and just type the app you want, a lot quicker than searching for it through tabs on the start button (IMO).
I chuckle when I hear people want to go back to Windows 7.. It takes about 15minutes to figure out how to use Windows 8 just as efficiently as Windows 7, and Windows 8 is faster!

Reasons people always go back to Windows 7:
People don't like change. People like this will never change until forced to do so (hackers start taking their info)

They don't like the Metro tiles. With 8.1 you can avoid tiles all together, and download a single application and you'll never have to use it again. Either these people are lazy or ignorant.

People say "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Valid argument, but if something is better, why not upgrade? And that leads me to my next one,

People say "I can't afford to upgrade all the time". Which is another valid argument, but once Windows 7 is no longer supported, you are screwed and will have to upgrade.

Brandon, all your arguments seem valid. in my case: I just switched to a new computer, used to have a dell. And that was and still is running on Win7. Now I did use Win 8 a lil. Not crazy abt it, but I have to admit I also didnt put much time in it...For me, at least, the leap to win 8 was too much a change cause:

1. A new computer, constructed on different architecture than what i was using for the last 4 years was already a big change

2. I bought the g750 for graphic purpose only- well of course a game now and then wont hurt. Previously my 3ds max and vray ran perfectly on win 7 and i already know how awful it is to change the OS when your other software wont be supported with that new OS.

3. Before starting the installation, I read this forum a lil and to me at least, the issues with Win7 and Win 8 that users had, seem to lower the balance in Win 7 favor.

In the end, I am not sure I made the right choice, I just tried and applied common sense to a situation. The only problem I had was that my Fn+F keys were not working, though the rest of the keyboard was glowing and also working fine, so I asumed it was some driver or program installed that caused it...manage to fix it late last night.

Personally, I kept Windows 8. (didn't upgarde to 8.1) ;

I just installed Classic Shell (free), and the start button with all its functionalities (like Win 7) is back.
I configured the "auto log-in" too, so the G750JH boots ( "fast-boot", SSD) in less than 5 seconds (actually more 3-4 ) and I never see Metro.

How is the start button in Win 8.1 ? is it exactly like it was in Win 7 ?

Concerning Win 8, I have no compatibility issues : "old" games like Bioshock 1, Ultima IX , Morrowind run perfectly.

One of the few softwares I cannot run is for example 3DMark 2000. (it works on Win 7 on another computer, but it might be the graphics card that isn't properly detected). Can someone who has switched to Win7 test 3DMark 2000 ?

8.1 is the ****. it unparks your cpu's cores by default giving huge increases in fps and gaming playability without the need for 3rd party applications. there is no reason a gamer with windows 8 shouldnt use 8.1. and the unparking of the cores in house by the os is reason enough to upgrade to windows 8 from 7. the new menu is just a large fullscreen start bar. like i seriously dont get peopls reaction to it as if its a horrible plague on windows. i rather like it and use it as my start button except everythng is larger and i can move and organise programs in groups and **** just like i want and not alphabetical like windows 7. cheers.
