I have all updated drivers, but I want them to be from the ASUS G750JX downloads page I would just feel better:

Intel Chipset Drivers 9.4.0.1027

After you download the *.ZIP File, copy the folder you extracted to C:\ and rename the folder to chip.

Now, right click on the Windows 8.1 Start Menu button and choose Command Prompt (Admin)

Type CD\ then hit Enter

Type cd chip then hit Enter

Type setup.exe -overall -overide then hit Enter.

This command will install the full Intel Chipset Drivers not just the components that are missing. This is very essential.

Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver 12.8.0.1016

Intel Management Engine Interface 9.5.13.1706

Atheros AR9485 WLAN Driver 10.0.0.263 (Unzip the folder, then manually browse to update the drivers through Device Manager)

Atheros AR8171 LAN Driver 2.1.0.21

Atheros Bluetooth Driver 8.0.1.306

Power4Gear Hybrid Utility 3.0.5

Thanks for putting that list together Nehmia 🙂

I wouldn't get too hung up on limiting yourself to the Asus downloads for now during the 8.1 update - you can always go back and verify that Asus is supporting that version - or another newer version - after they start posting their 8.1 drivers for the G750's

As long as you get the driver from a OEM site, you should be ok. The vendors will get their drivers out first, and then the integrators/builders will push out their tested version. You can always roll back the driver and uninstall it if you have a problem. Keep around the previous version that was working just in case so you are ready to reinstall it should the new one fail.

DeltaActual, I won't delete it, and if I do I will back it up to an external drive before deleting it. But, that is just me.

You can probably toss it unless you want to have it around to revert back to Windows 8 - if that is even possible. 🙂

But, for now, since we don't know what might be in there, I would wait a while.

It is a lot of stuff though...

LOL. Fools. Obviously drivers will work with 8.1, even microsoft aren't THAT dumb.

It is never foolish to be cautious. I don't want anyone to think I did this because I thought it would work - I did it to find out *if* it would work 🙂

Then the recovery process is one that I would have taken notes about, so I can help clients that get into trouble.

I wouldn't suggest anyone have done this like I did it, unless they are prepared to do a complete rebuild from backups, like I was ready to do.

From past experience I knew that vendor drivers, updated for 8.1, would be included in the Update - they would have to be in order for anyone to be successful in doing the update.

All the component makers helped Microsoft in the development and packaging for the rollout of Windows 8.1 🙂

Gotta love Microsoft, there are already Updates to the 8.1 Update 🙂
