using stereoscopic 3d?

hello, I've got an Asus G73Sw, and I have an issue with the 3D process. I've contacted Asus support about this and have not received a response from them in 8 days.
the problem I'm having is in the past I have been able to use the 3D stereoscopic shutter glasses for 3D games, however now, I am unable to use them, whenever I play any of my 3D games, the game is displayed in RED/CYAN anaglyph, and not 3D stereoscopic.

how do I get the 3D Stereoscopic mode to work again?

Re run the set up wizard in the nvidia contrl panel.

The 3D is setup to use the NVIDIA Discovery Glasses, and not the emitter. You can go into the NVIDIA Control Panel, and change the settings in the Stereoscopic tab. You can also rerun the setup Wizard from there.

yes. I know that I can run the setup wizard from the nVidia Control Panel. I had to do that to get it working the first time I got my laptop. maybe I should rephrase my question

I have had my laptop for about two months now. when I received the laptop I set up the 3D glasses properly and was able to play 3d games, because I know how to do that googley thing.
now, as of two weeks ago, 3D games do not play in 3D, they play in 2D Red/Cyan anaglyph mode. I have contact Asus twice about this issue and they have not responded to my support tickets, so I am asking here, how do I get 3D to work, because the 3D setup wizard--what I used 2 months ago--displays in 2D anaglyph mode.
I would take pretty screenshots for everyone to see, however I am unable to because the 3D setup wizard doesn't show in the screenshot.

I apologize if I sound mean, angry, or derisive in this post. I have had to deal with a lot of boilerplate troubleshooting responses, from different organizations--that cover the exact same steps, and do not resolve the problems--in the past month. I am trying my hardest to maintain my cool over things I have invested time and money into which are not working.

check your nvidia control panel and 3d setup wizard. when you rerun the program you can pick and choose what type of eye wear you are setting up for. if its on anaglyph, you should be able to change it to stereo

hello, I have gone through the 3D setup wizard (from the nVidia control panel) several times, and nowhere does it give me the option to choose what type of eye wear I am setting up for.

on the first page it tells me: I've got a display with a built-in 3D vision IR emitter; to charge the glasses, connect them to the computer with the provided USB cable; and the 3D vision driver, and nVidia graphics driver have already been installed on my system
on the second page it tells me: Select my gaming environment and gives me three options: Single gaming computer in a room with no IR devices being used at the same time; single gaming computer in a room with other IR devices being used at the same time; multiple gaming computers in a LAN environment all using 3D vision. I choose #1: no other IR devices being used
on the third page the screen tint becomes redder (it actually turns redder during the transition between screen 2 and screen 3) and page 3 tells me: press the On button on your 3D glasses; look for a steady green light. I receive the steady green light on my 3D glasses
on the fourth page it tells me: test your hardware; and gives me a test image with a white background, light blue triangles, and light red hexagons; tells me to choose what image I see and gives two sets of options: one for left eye, one for right; each a triangle, a hexagon, and both triangle and hexagon.
that pretty much ends my 3D Vision setup experience, because when I choose what I see with the glasses on-both triangle and hexagon-it says that the hardware test failed

Well, the test will fail if you select the image of both triangle and hex in the same pic. You are suppose to close one eye at a time and select what you see, for the appropriate left-right eye response.

When you test, do you see the led light on the lcd panel light up for the emitter? It should stay steady on when it's transmitting. Do the glasses seem to be shuttering as they are suppose to?

I know the test will fail if I pick both triangle and hexagon choices, but THAT'S WHAT I SEE. I do not have anaglyph glasses. I did not get them with this 3D ready laptop. I have LCD shutter glasses, I got them with the 3D ready laptop.

and to clarify. when I'm doing the test. the display does not show the test images in stereoscopic 3D. it shows them in ANAGLYPH mode

light in the emitter in the upper bezel did not turn on, and the LCD lenses do not shutter at all, but I do get the steady green light on the glasses..

if you are seeing the red/cyan anaglyph, then the app is not setting up 3D properly. Let's go down a checklist:

1) LCD panel should be set to 120Hz, under PC resolutions (not HD, SD 1920x1080, that's only 60 Hz)

When in red/cyan mode, the Stereoscopic 3D Mode will read "3D Vision Discover"

just after a clean reboot; and the 3D images are red-cyan--what you're saying is 3D Vision Discover--not stereoscopic 3D/ASUS 3D Vision laptop
