urgent- loose contact gpu/screen

Hi,
Today as I took my laptop (g53sw) from my room to the kitchen, I hit the door with the right corner of the laptop. Right away a green line through the screen appeared and then some pixels turned green and pink. The laptop worked fine, but it was displaying these weird colors. I don't have a picture since everything happened so quickly. I checked the gpu temperature at that moment and it was at 33C (normally it is around 45C). I then just left the laptop untouched for half an hour while I was doing a backup.
When I came back, it was still displaying green/pink pixels, I then tapped the corner of the laptop that had hit the door with my fingers (just lightly) and now everything's back to normal. The gpu temp is back to 45C again.
However, if I hit the laptop now, for a short moment some lines appear on the screen.
Now I'm very afraid of moving the laptop, but tomorrow I'm taking the plane back home and will have to carry it with me.

So what I need, are suggestions of what could be the issue and if travelling with the laptop might completely break it?
Could it just be a lose connection, if so where exactly? What is located on the lower right side of the laptop? (right side, when you sit in front of it)
My warranty ran out a month ago, so I will have to fix this by myself.

Thanks a lot for any help 🙂

I would say that you should be able to travel. Basically if something is actually broken then it's unlikely that being gently transported as a carry on will make the difference in it being repairable. Basically it's either irreparably damaged already or it's not.

I'm not sure about the layout inside of a g53 but if nobody else chimes in I would just look on YouTube for disassembly videos and see if anything looks like a likely culprit.
A bus station is where a bus stops. A train station is where a train stops. On my desk, I have a work station…

ASUS has poor disassembly instructions, and there is a screw under the palm rest on the right-hand side that they do not mark. Be careful, and your best bet is to find a disassembly video, as the computer is really hard to disassemble that far. My guess is a damaged cable connector, and the right-hand side of the notebook is where the GPU is, so the LVDS cable is possibly damaged/loose.
I am disturbed because I cannot break my system...found out there were others trying to cope! We have a support group on here, if your system will not break, please join!

We now have 178 people whose systems will not break! Yippee! 🙂

It sounds like you loosened the LVDS cable connection to the display or motherboard of your laptop. Hook up your laptop to an external monitor or HDTV to see if the video issue also appears on the external monitor. If not, the LVDS cable may be the likely culprit (but there is still an outside chance it is the laptop display.

If BOTH displays have the video problem, you may have slightly unseated the VGA.

Transport with the laptop shut down shouldn't cause any additional problems.

Don't be afraid to contract the repair job out to a qualified computer repair shop.

Travel today went great and my laptop is still working. So far everything's working fine. I've taken the laptop apart already twice, but it is really not easy and I don't fancy doing again (if not necessary).
So what do you think, can I determine what's wrong by opening it up or should I just wait and see if the problem pops up again?
How likely is it that it's not the connector but the gpu going bad? I've already had one gpu replaced on this laptop..
