Upgrading G750JX to G751JY?

I'm hoping somebody who's done this upgrade can tell me if it's worth it?

Besides the GPU, which I get the benefits of, are there any real upgrades to the laptop? Red backlight is nice and all, but I can't see anything else worth upgrading?

THanks for any feedback!

polbit, the only way to upgrade from a G750JX to a G751JY is to sell the G750JX, and buy a G751JY 🙂

The G750JX and G751JY are completely different cases, and motherboards. The G751JY has the 980m GPU soldered onto the motherboard, and the G750JX uses an MXM card - custom sized / designed and not compatible for swapping.

The G750JY - which also has a 980m, has the 980m on an MXM card - but it won't fit in the JX - the G750JH/JZ/JY are all larger and have upgraded heatsinks, power supplies, and other support components than the G750JW/JX/JM/JS.

There is no planned upgrade path for any G750/G751, other than memory and storage.

sasuke256, I think polbit is talking about the G751JY - non-Optimus, not the G750JY which does have Optimus - which also makes the MXM card incompatible with the G750JX also non-Optimus.

My bad, totally forgot the non optimus thing in G751..
The G751's dont have MXM modules, the gpus are soldered
