Tried to upgrade from Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 8 Pro. Install goes fine until Windows 8 is finalizing installation. Installation stops, no error message given. Computer then reboots back to Windows 7. Any clues appreicated. Upgrade assistant says all is fine to upgrade.
Yes I ran the software compatiblity and there were no issues. Thanks for your reply. Device drivers were loaded with no issues, everything goes fine until it says Windows 8 has a problem and will reboot back to Windows 7. There again, no error message stating what the problem is. Only thing I haven't done is to do a clean install.
HI, did you make the recover CD form Win 7, i think you should make back up form win7, than do the upgrade to win 8 if you want to clan the disk, because hitten partition maybe difference.
Upgrading to Windows 8 finally successful. I uninstalled AVG, ran the setup.exe as administrator and the upgrade completed with no errors. All device drivers work fine. Only had to upgrade the wireless XBox 360 controller driver. Thanks to all that replied.
