upgrade from hdd to ssd on g750jw

Hi all,
This is my first post. The hdd on my asus g750jw is deemed dead by a technician. I think it is a good time to replace it with ssd. So I need some guidance for buying it. I have the following questions:
1) I believe I'll need a 2.5 inch sata 3 ssd. There is also a size in mm given on amazon website and so I'm not sure which one is relevant.
2) Is there anything else I need to know about ssd?
3) Also, can I mount the ssd in the same slot as my hdd?

1B. No, just 2.5 drive.
2. Yes, I would go with the Samsung 850 PRO SSD.
3. Yes, that would be best.
