Opened my brand-new, $2300 laptop, only to be greeted with the only fear I had, VERTICAL LINES.
In what world is it okay for Asus to skimp on the screen on a laptop of this price?
How should I go about handling this situation? Because I absolutely refuse to have this screen, I can see the lines from over two feet away and they hurt my eyes after just minutes.
Note: To all the naysayers that say the lines aren't real, they are. My father's laptop had the exact same issue, and it took 3 exchanges to get a working one. The first two were both AUO and on the third I got a CHI MEI in it and it didn't have the issue anymore.

hoboX10, it sounds like you got a bad one, return it and get a new one. At least you know that it can be resolved by returning and trying again, like your fathers laptop.
This is different than the "faint lines" problem, which is only seen by sticking your nose in the screen.
Real problems like this can occur during shipping with the box bouncing around and dislodging a cable connection. I don't recommend opening the laptop to see if you can re seat the cables, as that would void the warranty - but I have fixed such issues myself in the past by re-seating a cable. Sometimes it is a flaky cable, which requires replacing the cable.
We all hate to have this happen, but it isn't always due to not having good QA at the vendor end, I have been at that end and seen hardware go out that I have personally tested - only to come back not working after shipping. Cables are notorious for failing after getting bounced around in shipping.
Sorry to heat this happened, I hope your next one works 100% 🙂

I spoke to a Newegg support person and she said for the quickest replacement I could order another laptop and do a refund through defect on this. I did it and have ordered the new one already. I will continue repeating this until I get one that doesn't have the issue, as not all of the laptops contain the awful screens.
As for ordering a replacement panel, if anyone can direct me to where I could get a panel higher than 1080p (preferrably 1440p because I don't want to deal with bad Windows scaling) and that fits the G750JZ then I may just say whatever if the next one has the issue and replace it with that.
