The stock drive configuration on G750JW....

Ok so the stock drive configuration of splitting the 1TB into a 372GB and 537GB kind of annoys me so to speak haha. However i was wondering how hard it really is to merge the two? Also if i don't merge them will downloading my steam games to the larger drive while having steam on the smaller one affect how well the games run/load?

It won't affect speed by much, though for traditional HDDs the fastest areas are the ones on the outside of the spinning platter (i.e. the beginning of the drive, or in your case the C drive). Difference will not be noticeable, in my opinion.

You can easily merge the 2 drives. Post a screenshot of your disk manager (Win+X, then K) so I can see the exact layout you have, and we can go from there.

But otherwise this will not harm the hard drive in any way correct? I know i sound paranoid but i just dont want to ruin anything haha

Hey thanks! I am cautious about removing the partition however because i heard that removing them can harm the hard drive?

Make sure no files are on 😧 drive that you need - if so back them up.

1. Right-click on 😧 in disk manager - Delete volume. You end up with unpartitioned space (or was it called unallocated? can't recall).
2. Right-click on C: - choose Extend. You can specify how much you want to extend it by, but if you just keep hitting Next the defaults will use up all available unallocated space.
3. That's it.

Extra info: The reason I asked for the screenshot is that the Extend option only works if the available space is directly after the drive you're extending. E.g. if you had another partition (hidden or system) between C and D, it wouldn't have worked unless you move it (with a more capable partition manager). I believe that some JH models have that type of config.

Haha, ok great! Except now i have to move 20GB worth of steam games onto drive C....:P
Also i noticed that when i checked the D drive properties it says there is 160MB used(this was before i installed any games onto it btw) but there were no files in it, any clue what that 160MB is?

The only thing that will be "harmed" is any file currently on the 😧 drive, it will simply be deleted. Nothing will harm the actual drive, you can create/resize/delete partitions all day every day if it floats your boat. Caution is advised only because you risk losing data, though the builtin windows disk manager will never let you delete the C: drive. I don't recommend trying though 🙂

No idea, probably random hidden files or maybe D:'s recycle bin? In My computer, D:, Under the View tab you can tick Hidden files to see what those could be. I wouldn't worry too much about it, to be honest. If the OS is installed on C, it won't keep vital files on D.
