The new ROG G56 or Asus N550JK-CN019D?

Hello dudes, got dilemma here 🙂

I like very much the both laptops, but i wonder do they have the same IPS display? does some know actually the panel models?
For me the winner is the one with the better IPS display!

A slight advantage for me is that n550 is aluminium as every laptop i had was plastic and they fall apart.. (never had asus laptop). But if the new G56 is with better IPS i dont care plastics!

edit: is it expecting soon rog 17 series with IPS? if yes i would prefer to wait.
thanks

My G56 got FHD IPS matte display. G56 has it's cover and keyboard panel made of aluminium plus glowing asus logo on cover 🙂

Opps soz, thought g56 is plastic like his sibling N56JR 😄 Is it the palm rest too aluminium? looked like plastic

What can you say about the screen? Is it brighter cause of EVW (extra viewing angle technology).. there was comparison between some asus with EWV (without ips) and some other display.. and the asus one with EWV technology was very bad.... whitish like ghost. here some comparison with EVW - left one is ASUS UX21

EVW isn't in IPS, it's technology used in TN matrix for better angles, IPS by itself has great viewing angle, EVW is used to enhance non-IPS display, and like I said whole cover and whole panel where keyboard and touchpad is, are made of aluminum 🙂

Ye i told the same, why they would put EVW on IPS, as IPS is wide enough... but here is what on the site http://www.asus.com/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/G56JR/specifications/ 15.6" 16:9 HD with EWV (1366 x 768) /FHD EWV LED Backlight Asus Splendid Video Intelligent Technology, Zero Bright Dot , anti-glare

so seems there is some EVW or they have put it wrong but doubt it.

nice that everything is aluminium! plastics sux big time.

Strange, on "overview" tab they wrote
Remarkable detail and 178-degree viewing on a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS panel

so it might be some sort of error. It's definetly IPS

Hehe thanks for the reply! Seems the G56 is a decent ROG series with more expensive and better IPS than 550 JK! The colors are pretty pretty black! I dont want to do the same mistake, as with my current laptop which i bought on sight 😄 Will wait more extended reviews, but for now the winner is G56! The one plus for 550 JK, that all cons are known (almost no cons..)

I'm making a review but in polish 😉 If I get my accus, I'll make some video and pics of G56 with my camera. Also if you are insterested, on battery it works for about 3,5 hour

hi arkejn, I'm worrying about heat problem with this model. could you please tell me:
- what's the average temperature at your room (office, home,.. - where you use this laptop)
- do you need any external fan, or other tools to keep this laptop cool?
- how many fan does this laptop has? what do you comment about its thermal design?
- on average, do you think this laptop is better than N550JK (or is it worth the money?). In my country, it's sold at 1375USD. N550JK is not release (in my country) yet, but I've heard it'd be about 1200USD.
thank you very much 🙂
