Team Fortress 2 Running Crappy on G74?

I'm at a loss for words as to why TF2 is running crappy on my G74SX which easily plays games like battlefield 3, dirt 2, crysis 2, and saint's row 3 on high/ultra settings. I mean tf2 is game from 07.

As an example, I get 60fps in spawn (small room), I get 30fps in a normal area with 3-5 teammates, and 10-15fps fighting with 5-10 people on screen. That's pathetic. And for some reason, it gets the exact same fps on 1920x1080 on all max settings than with 1024x768 on all low settings. Any ideas?

I once had a similar problem where new games were just running fine, but on older games like cod2 I would get really bad fps. It happened after installing a new gpu driver, so I just installed an older one again (which fixed it)
I've also realised that some games give me better fps on 1920x1080 than on 1024x768. I've really no idea why that is the case. Maybe it has something to do with the native resolution of the screen?
