My G750JX laptop has just today developed a very odd and frustrating problem. This is a new development and until today this has not been an issue in any manner or form.
Quick run-down on the story up until yesterday:
Bought the G750JX with Win 8 in July.
Got fed up with Win 8, bought a Samsung SSD and installed Win 7 64-bit at the end of October (kept the Win 8 HDD as it were just booted off the SSD instead).
Ever since the install there has been this odd graphics glitch while booting Win 7 - essentially the loading screen is compressed into weird stripes of seemingly random pixels at the top of the screen. However this passes pretty quickly and from the login screen everything worked as intended.
Been pretty much happy since then.
THEN, yesterday my Win 7 partition would not boot. It got stuck in the weird pixel screen stage and would not progress. I tried both repair and safe boot to no avail. Got stuck after having loaded CLASSPNP.sys. I booted on the Win 8 partition and did some trouble shooting - ran CHKDSK F: /R which found no issues and follwed the instruction by "Jet" on this page:
http://superuser.com/questions/559923/windows-7-is-stuck-at-starting-windows-when-i-attempt-to-boot-...After that I rebooted and Win 7 started just fine - and everything worked.
So, this morning - same issue, Win 7 hangs during startup. I follow yesterdays procedure and Win 7 starts just fine... only now my WIFI adapter is not seeing any networks - the driver is working and no amount of toggling Fn+F2 or diagnosing helped with this. I know it is neither the hardware nor the router - because the WIFI works fine inside Win 8 and my phone still connects just fine to the router. Normal ethernet works fine.
Since then I have dug through all sorts of links and tried out various other drivers for the WIFI adapter. None of it works and I am at my wits end, I hope someone here can help.
So to summarise - WIFI worked yesterday now it does not. The drivers used to work and it is not the hardware or the router. I suspect something has gotten screwed up inside Win 7 and would appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction.
