I cloned my hdd to my samsung 840 250gb and the speeds seem off. The sequential read and writes are in line with what is expected but the 4k speeds are low . the seq are 496.6 read and 255.0 write. The 512k are 394.4 read and 245.5 write. The 4k are 23.30 read and 45.80 write. The 4k 32 are 248.6 read and 68.93 write. Also the drive benchmarks in magician are 257 seq read and 239 seq write while the random read is 69640 and write 12159. Anyone else have this problem?oh yeah the ssd is 17% full

hi @willy, if you need a quicker fix, the better option for you might be just doing a clean install.

sorry i have had no first-hand experience in fixing this thing, as it never happened to me.

It seems to be fine now. The alignments good but for some reason the microsoft store won't open. Can I do a fresh install with a system image or do I have to resize partitions for it to work since I'm going from 1tb to 250gb.

can you check in the event viewer why the store cannot be opened? these anomalies should haven been logged.

i'm not sure how you created your system image. i've read that proper resizing must be done before creating such images.

Yeah I checked both drives and the ssd had corrupted files. Must have happened during the partition alignment. Gonna try to reset the ssd to factory specs and if that don't work I'll get win 8. I'm just not skilled enough to trouble shoot and none of my friends use a computer for more than Web surfing.

maybe you can try run at admin console the command: 'sfc /scannow' first to let windows repairs itself.

Yeah that's how I found the corrupted files but I couldn't repair them. I just ran the repair dvd and it reset it and all is good. Thanks for all the help and putting up with my lack of tech savvy. Oh yeah and I'm glad I did it myself because I learned from my mistakes and will have more confidence and know how next time.
