Use your imaging software and copy your HD to your SSD and make the SSD Active, shutdown, remove hard drive, Move SSD to 0 slot, boot up if all goes good. next shut down put hard dive back in 1 slot boot up and format the OS partition on the hard drive.

@willy, if it's a blank new ssd, have you gone into disk management to initialize it?

Well it recognizes the ssd which is in slot 0 but it doesn't boot. No I never did initialize it but the ssd is recognized as o's (G:) while the hdd is in slot 1 and is recognized as slot os(c:). What I did is clone while ssd was in slot 1 and hdd in slot 0 and than I shut down and swapped them. I know I s rowed up somewhere but I have never done this so I don't know where.

The ssd went straight to recovery screen though it's got the data on the disc. Do I have to format the ssd now?

Yea take out your HD until you get your SSD running, Cloning should have formatted and set all partitions on your SSD as your hard drive had them. They the partitions should have been shrunk proportionally to fit your SSD.

Yeah, you cannot clone a HDD to a SSD without a few tricks around partitioning and such. Gotta have the right software for that job.
And that just ain't greasy kid stuff.
