I always have a sound crackling if the windows sound is heard or when i'm surfing the internet with pictures.
i can reproduce the sound crackling with consecutively click on the speaker volume in windows.
is this a hardware defect?

lots of people getting same issue... looks like a driver problem

there's a workaround by using jack control (which has worked for me on my maximus vii ranger), use the youtube link posted here https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?54761-Audio-Popping&highlight=sound+problem

lots of discussions about it here also https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?51934-Asus-Maximus-VII-Hero-Microphone-problem-Drivers&hig...

This could also be the imbalanced sound issue.

If your sound is coming mainly from the front left of the laptop (under the left palmrest) then it's the subwoofer crackling when playing treble frequencies, and you have that issue.

It's known to effect G751's regardless of model number, if that's you, it's likely that this is your issue.(Driver related, we're waiting for a fix)
