Sonic Radar + Realtek Audio Driver V6.0.1.7040 for Windows Win 8.1

While digging for Realtek driver updates, I found a newer release of the audio driver, it is listed as for Windows 8.1 release, but if you drop into the driver folder, ignoring the top level Asus Installer (which complains about the OS on Windows 8), you can use the original Realtek Setup to install, I am running it now.

The other nice bonus, Sonic Radar is included in a SonicRadar folder in the driver folder, and it installed ok.





The new driver is working so far for me, please post a note if you find a problem with the driver or Sonic Radar under Windows 8.

Update: In MaxxAudio, for Speakers clicking Defaults drops MaxxBass to 0 in some profiles. But, setting it back by hand sounds fine. I have switched back and forth between .7027 and .7040 and except for the defaults glitch .7040 sounds great.

Update: In MaxxAudio, for Headphones I can click on Small/Medium/Large, and the Profile defaults sound great.

Thanks hmscott for the heads up, Realtek Audio Driver V6.0.1.7040 installed without any problems on Windows 7 plus all the features worked – Realtek Audio Manager – MAXXAUDIO and Sonic Radar.

Installation was easy just opened up the Driver Folder and double clicked the setup.exe file - it was nice not having to search for a file and delete it. Then rebooted and installed Sonice Radar.

A definite improvement on the sound.

very nice Hmscott! although I've been testing the sonic radar after installation.

Doesn't seem to work for BF4 atm. did anyone got it work on BF3 at least? (don't have it installed since I just reinstalled windows)

I haven't even found the Sonic Radar instructions yet 🙂

This is experimental fab5yo, you might want to skip it and wait for the release for G750. This one requires a bit of fidding around and takes a bit to describe.

It is one of those that, if you had to ask for instructions, you shouldn't attempt it.

So, here are the instructions 😉

Go to the link in the first post. Select Windows 8.1 x64, go to the audio section, and download the newest/latest version.

Unzip the package into a directory structure.

CD to the driver folder (don't run the Asus Setup), and run the plain Setup.exe in the driver folder.

It will ask to uninstall the old driver, reboot, and when you login it will automatically install the new driver - be patient - especially if you still have an HD instead of an SSD 🙂

It will reboot again.

CD back into the driver folder, then CD another level down into the SonicRadar folder, run that Setup.exe, reboot

Done.

See, that wasn't so bad 🙂

If you want to go back to the older version, just run the setup from that installer and it will uninstall the new one and reboot, then install the older version automatically. The Sonic Radar install will still be there.

Will Asus giving this Sonic Radar release to G750?

Is G750 using the same motherboard as for this driver?

i have W8 on my JX, i install the update driver for the audio, it was successful but now i noticed a popping sound. not every time though. any one has same experience?

Popping sound in the speakers or headphone (through headphone jack)?

I had to re-enter the registry entries to turn off power saving mode for the headphone jack amplifier after installing the latest realtek driver.

These settings turn off the power saving mode while plugged in to AC, but allow power saving mode while on battery:
