Something serious has happened to my 770m card in my G750JX

I have no clue what's going on, but all of a sudden 20 mins prior to this post, my card had just started to perform horribly.

I was playing World of Tanks on Maximum, everything was fine, it played at 50+ FPS on max settings. My heating never exceeded 70*C I checked on the overclock tool on history.

Some reason my game performs 8fps now. EIGHT FRAMES PER SECOND.

It's not only the game, I've booted up Crysis 3 and other games, everything can't even play on Medium anymore to get 20 FPS

What the hell has happened to my Card?!?!

P.S. Everything else works fine, my PC runs smooth. Should I run a RealBench and post the score?

Please someone say something, I'm freaking out that I have to send my machine back to Asus, and I really don't want to do that. I hate having to wait..

Holy Naaru above.. I fixed it. I thought my graphics card had died..

I just re-installed the driver. I have a feeling since the new World of Tanks update it's doing things that it shouldn't and making the driver stuff up.

Thanks for anyone's concerns.

Glad to hear you fixed it 🙂

I didn't see this thread till your most recent post...

It might have been a driver crash, they happen, when it restarts it will drag along at very low fps till you reboot.

Reinstalling the driver would also exit the existing instance of the running driver - starting a new one - which would run a normal speed.

Normally you would just need a reboot - try that next time you get an FPS drop like that - reboot and see if the fps comes up again.

You might need to back off on the memory OC if you are getting driver crashes.

I rebooted 4 times. Nothing changed. I recently tuned my GPU voltage from 837 to 850 and target FPS to 85, but I guess that may have been the problem.

I was trying to match my FPS that I set on my NVidia panel, since I recently overclocked it from 60hz to 85.

I was so scared. :'{

P.S. my screen going up to 85hz is great, I can notice the difference greatly on http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/inversion.php

The refresh change in Nvidia should be reflected in the Asus GPU Tweak tool without causing a problem. The voltage setting in AGTT doesn't do anything, so that isn't it.

I haven't played with target FPS, if that makes the ACTT exceed the GPU/memory settings that could be it, but I thought it was actually a power saving option, keeping the fps low - not to exceed, rather than OC'ing further to attain the fps target.

I wonder what it was?

Happy to hear it was just a driver problem, that was solved by reinstalling it.

Does the refresh at 100hz not work? Why stop at 85hz?

I don't want to push it too far. Won't it cause damage? Also.. I don't think I really need 100.

What're your thoughts?

You will see visible clues if it too high, but most attain 100hz without seeing a problem. Above that is iffy. If you see sparklies, or lines, or "you''ll know it when you see it" anomalies, you can reject the change and it will revert to the previous setting.

Yep 100's too much. The grey bars where "Today xx:xxpm" time titles are making static purple scrolling along the upper top. I might try 90.

I went to 120 a while ago (month) and a huge rainbow line about an inch was at the bottom of my screen right up against the bezel. :'c

Maybe 100 won't be too bad..
