[SOLVED]Problems restarting/shutting down G750JH (Problem Changed)

Greetings ROG. I have a problem that developed after the new year. My G750JH (Bios G750JHA.203) seldom properly shuts down or restarts when prompted. Windows appears to shut down (screen and external monitor are off), but the KB lighting and power button remain illuminated.

I use CCleaner, Auslogics Registry Cleaner, Auslogics Registry Booster, and Malwarebytes weekly. Being that I have a very actively used external HDD, I defrag that drive weekly. I defrag the onboard HDD monthly Of course, I never defrag the SSD. Malwarebytes quick and flash scans daily and full scans weekly. No issues there.

Event logs hinted at two failures to properly restart windows twice, but every daily event logged a true and true Kernal-Boot event.

I did notice a frequent warning that says "Custom dynamic link libraries are being loaded for every application. The system administrator should review the list of libraries to ensure they are related to trusted applications. Please visit http://support.microsoft.com/kb/197571 for more information."

I also see UserModePowerService pop up a lot.

I ran a memtest, as well, and the RAM checked good.

I've checked the BIOS and I disabled secure boot, but that doesn't seem to have made a difference. The issue seems to be in a power cycling feature/kernal/whatever. Figuring out what is the trick, and I'd much rather avoid doing a system restore to December (which would unfortunately result in a lot of micromanagement and redownloading of games and software).

I bought this laptop back in October and it otherwise ran superbly up to this point, but every time I've had to restart the computer (or power it down) using the power button, I've noticed degraded gaming performance (losing about a 2-3fps average in SWTOR and BF4 with each manual restart).

Note that I also use Razer Game Booster. It's helpful, but I wonder if its unique power profile is wreaking havoc on my system.

Has anyone encountered this issue or have any idea on how best to proceed? Thank you for your time.


[SOLVED] Disabling bluetooth drivers fixes this problem 100% of the time for me.

Sorry I mispoke. I defrag my external (must have had SSD on my mind at the time; it's my OS drive) drive weekly, because it is frequently connected and disconnected. I ran error checks and memtest already, and nothing has come up screwy. Unfortunately, while my posting issue is fixed after the rollback to 203, the battery problem persists. I'm at a loss of what to do.

did u edit the CPU voltage via intel extreme utilty. İF u are reverse the default settings. Then maybe it is the cause of problem.

I do not even use that utility. I don't tweak voltages whatsoever. I've never had a need to OC this thing, because it satisfactorily paces games like Battlefield 4 and War Thunder each on maximum settings.

Hey "hmscott" I'm just wondering if you could solve my problem about that downgrading the bios. Recently I just upgrade my bios from JHA203 to JHA204 then I tried to downgrade it again into JHA203 and everything went fine. But i noticed something that bother's me. I typed the msinfo32 then I saw the BaseBoard Model Not Available and the BaseBoard Name as Base Board. So then, I tried to downgrade my Bios back to JHA203 but then same as I saw in JHA204 so I've decided to upgrade it again to JHA204 and format my ROG G750JH. Now when Install "winflash" I get that on Asus.com/support then download the JHA203 bios again I can't downgrade my bios to JHA203. It still work if you flash the winflash then after that it says press exit to continue and reboot the computer but then if I press the exit nothing happens? What do you think is the problem of my laptop? Thanks!

Do it again. I had the same issue - it looks like it scheduled the flash, but didn't. If it does that again when running Winflash, go ahead and do it again while still in the Winflash program. It will reboot when it takes the flash schedule at next boot correctly. Annoying, right? 🙂

...and just to verify: ALL of my computer problems are resolved EXCEPT the battery issue I'm now having. It seems the actual symptom is that windows is **NOT** accurately tracking the battery charge state. Therefore, the battery might charge 1 or 2 percent at a given time, before the battery LED starts blinking, and it doesn't track when the battery is being drained, thus resulting in an unexpected shutdown when the battery DOES die.

If the battery is within warranty and causes the Notebook to suddenly switch ON/switch OFF or shut down or prevents the system from turning on, ASUS will replace the defective battery with a new one.
Asus will replace a new battery under the following conditions: (a) Battery does not charge; (b) Notebook is not able to detect battery connection; (c) System prompts or warns the user repeatedly to replace the battery; (d) Battery Charge Indicator blinks abnormally.

Well if that's the case, then they definitely don't uphold those terms with much urgency, since my ticket regarding said battery has been open for a week without a response.

Can anyone help me? Ever Since I upgrade my laptop G750JH bios to 204JHA I can't downgrade it back to bio version 203JHA. I used the /nodate with winflash but everytime I press the exit to automatic reboot nothing happens? Is my board broken? I'm getting nervous here. Please someone Help me.
