Software for the G751 JT-CH71? No DVD player or gpu monitor?

Hello, this is my first post here so bear with me please.:) I just bought a G751 from amazon and a little after I got it, I noticed there is no dvd software. I cannot play dvd's on my brand new $1600 computer? Anyone else had this problem? I emailed Asus about a week ago and haven't got a response. I even downloaded AsusDVD, but it just asks for an activation key. Has anyone gotten an activation key from asus after having this problem? I can't believe that I just spent all this money on a laptop with speaker issues AND I have to buy another 50 dollars in software to get it to do what it says it does(please tell me I'm wrong). Pisses me off because I bought a driver detector/install problem to hopefully fix the sound issues which was basically 30 bucks down the drain.

Also I was wondering where a safe place to get a good gpu tweak/monitor program would be? I'd like to download it if possible. On the asus website it says the laptops come with asus turbomaster.... I have intel extreme utility which as far as I know has no way to monitor the gpu or overclock it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the help Toronto!

I thought the media player required a file extractor so I clicked on the link (should have waited and seen whether it actually needed one......it doesn't haha) and ended up with a ton of malware and virus problems. The link the media player is OK just not file opener.

Paid for Kaspersky 3.0 (got rid of Mcafee)and spyhunter 4 and all is well.

Moral of the story is pay attention to what your installing!

Apparently Asus doesn't support gpu tweak with the G series?????

fabrimacator21, the correct place to post is in that thread, here is the text of the first post:

"Own a G series notebook and trying to run GPU Tweak? - See here
Unfortunate news is that after discussion with the GPU Tweak team, notebook GPUs are not currently supported and might not be for a while due to desktop hardware refinements and demands (PCIe graphics cards have more OC, power delivery and cooling overhead) and other feature developments (video recording etc) first. We'll update you when we know more. "

That is a post from 2012, much has changed since then.

Take the time to read the literally 100's of posts about GPU Tweak since then, and you will find it works fine on the G750 and G751, among other ROG laptops.

If you have a G751 you will want to use the Asus GPU Tweak for Graphics Cards 2.7.1.8.

Keeping reading 🙂
