So what do I call this G751JY-DH71 power-on problem?

When I press the power button, nothing happens.

I just got it, never used it... Bought it in the US thru Amazon, now im back in my country the Philippines.

Contact support @ ASUS?

Maybe if you just discharge the battery/leave it unplugged (effectively resetting it) - it will work?

If you bought it through Amazon U.S. - you should still be able to return/exchange it. Work on this ASAP with ASUS to see if you will need to just return it or exchange it via Amazon (if they - as in ASUS - can't help).

EDIT: a couple things:
- Is it fully charged? If not, leave it plugged in a bit so it can have enough charge to start.
- Is it plugged into the correct type of outlet? Make sure you're not overloading it, etc.

It is fully charged and its in a correct type of Outlet. It will be a problem returning this to the US. So is there anyway to fix this in my local country? It did mention ASUS has an International warranty right?

Yes asus has 1 year internationall warranty. Just contact local ASUS service centre. I even think asus support site will work for you as directs you according to location.

For the machine all trouble shooting will reqire dissasembly. Dont do that !!! RMA it.
From my experiece in new machines this is usually critically depleted battery (And yes if could indicate full charge) or some dead HW component. None of it is easily accesible on G751.

I wish you best of luck as this sux big time. ASUS machines are usually very reliable.

I tried calling most of the ASUS authorized service repair in my country(Philippines), because I bought my laptop in the US, they will only try to repair the laptop, and not replace it, and they will check if its under international warranty, does this mean, not all asus products are on international warranty?

Did you check your charger? Maybe is faulty and not the laptop. I wonder if you try pressing the steam key?

Charger is working, and I also tried pressing the steam key, nothing happens

Because sometimes mine do the black screen like this... you have to holdpower until it shut down and turn on again.

Do it 2 or 3 times and it works, asus are the best...

Same thing with internation waranty in brazil... they will try to repair but they cant...

Hi Alevi, did you get your black screen on power up problem fixed as my laptop does the same thing. When I shut it down and then press the power button to start it I get a blank screen however I can tell the laptop has started, if I press the power button again to put the laptop to sleep then press the power button again to wake the laptop the screen works. It seems to only have the black screen problem when I start the laptop from a shut down. Turning on from sleep seems to work okay.

Any suggestion would be grateful.

I am having issues with my ASUS ROG G751JY-DH71 that I got as a Christmas present last December 2014. This was purchased 30 Nov 2014 and received 4 Dec 2014. When I opened it up and turned the power on, it started quickly. I was impressed right away. However when I did a warm boot after the initial power on, I got a black screen and it stayed there and not doing anything. It took me three to four times powering it on before I got it to start again properly. Also I noticed that when it goes to sleep, and I wake it up, I tried to right click my mouse on an Icon on my desktop or just right click my mouse anywhere on my desktop, the featured menu will show up in a flash then will turn into black. I checked the reviews on this model and both were known issues since last year. What are the fix for these issues? Again, I am liking this G751JY-DH71 because it is doing what it is supposed to do. except for those issues mentioned above. Another one I noticed is I do not have a software for the optical device. I e-mailed your support team and asked them what are the Specs for the model G751JY-DH71 that I currently have. I was given a list for what ASUS software/drivers comes with it and ASUSDVD was on the list. I checked the Control Panel/ Programs Installed and did not see ASUSDVD. I checked the C:\ drive and nothing there neither. I emailed back your support team and informed that I do not see it in my computer. I was told to download the ASUSDVD. I went to the site and downloaded the ASUSDVD and installed it on my computer. However when the installation was completed, I tried to click the icon for it on the desktop and it was asking for activation code. Again, I e-mailed your support team asking for activation code. I got a reply that ASUSDVD is not compatible with the model I have (G751JY-DH71). What is the real story on this? Thank you for your time in reading
