So I think my new G74SX just died. :/

I installed BIOS 203, it shut down, and now won't turn back on. I took the battery out for 10 seconds, because apparently that fixes some issues. But yeah, nothing. It's plugged in, has the battery in, doesn't smell like anything burnt, so Iunno. 😕

I am just having the worst of luck with Asus laptops, I swear to God. I don't want to send this one for replacement, too. Wtf?

What BIOS update method did you use?

Iunno. I've never had to do anything like that. This is the first time in my entire life I've had any such issues, and I've went through MANY PCs, including a DOS, since I was like, 4 or 5.

Easy Flash. I used the instructions on that one thread in these forums. It worked perfectly fine last time. I don't know why this time it decided to murder my laptop. -shrugs-

Geez....that REALLY sucks. Do you have a retailer that'll do a pretty quick replacement?

EDIT: Just saw in your other thread that it's Amazon. They'll take it back no problem.

Yup. Now I am going to have to send it in for replacement. AGAIN. IF they let me. If they do not, I am ****ing screwed. I mean, I can TRY going to Geek Squad from Best Buy, but I highly doubt they can do anything about it. 😕 For all I know, my laptop is 100% dead permanently and is as good as garbage.

Amazon will accept the return without question. Don't worry. And by all means, don't try taking it to anybody like Geek Squad....they can't fix that.

Oh. So I should just do a return this time, get a full refund, and reorder? o-o;

Exactly. Amazon returns are most efficient that way. You don't even have to wait for this return to be processed before ordering another one, if you don't want to.

Unfortunately, there is no method of flashing firmware that can guarantee 100 % success... I am truly sorry you had to experience it after going throught the trouble to get a replacement.
